Just wondering what everyone puts on their horse's when they go on the walker.

Ive been looking at some walker sheets to keep him dry, someone mentioned they put a light weight rug on but Im thinking it would rub his shoulders with his larger movement than in the field ?

Or do you put them on naked regardless of rain/snow ?

Marking my place, my new yard is having a walker build as we speak, it's in a open sided barn so would be dry but wind would still get in.

Do you boot on the walker?

Mine usually goes on the walker pretty naked - no boots or rugs.

When it starts to get properly cold and wet, I put an exercise blanket (either for warmth or a waterproof one) with a flat surcingle - nothing that could possibly catch on anything. I reckon regular rugs rub when they're striding out like that.

We had a covered walker at the last yard so tended to put on naked unless it was really cold in which case maybe a fleece (if he was clipped). I don't boot for walker sessions but then again, I don't boot for anything bar OR boots for travelling.

Depends on time of year and whether they are going on prior to exercise or not. If prior to exercise then tacked up, boots etc, quarter sheets if it is very cold. Then for evening stretch fleeces if it is very cold and they are clipped, boots depending on whether or not the individual horse requires them
