....when you go to a show? See post below....I haven't been out for years and I'm bound to forget something! What should I be packing into the lorry? And where do I get those water containers from?
Saddle
Numnah
Girth
Bridle
Jacket
Hat
(Shirt, Tie & Jodhpurs if not already worn)
Boots for rider
Boots for horse
Gloves
Hairnet and hairbands
Body Protector
Medical armband
Baby wipes
Grooming kit
Flyspray
Water
Schedule
Passport
Map
Money
Dressage test sheet
Whip
Studs
SAEs (for posting dressage sheets if you need to leave early)
Food & drink
First aid kit
Also keep spare leathers, irons, girth etc in lorry, plus spare set of shoes.
i always spend a few minutes a couple of days before a show/event writing myself a list....which goes something like this....
horse (obviously), with headcollar and lead rope (and spares)
any rugs for the day/travel
any boots (travel/tendon/brushing /whatever)
stud kit (if using studs)
bridle with bit change as required.
spare reins
saddle, girth, stirrups, numnah (+ spare if hot weather)
me:
hat, hairnet, gloves (+spares).
shirt and tie (or stock shirt and stock with pin)
jacket (show/hunting/waterproof)
cross country shirt (if needed)
body protector and armband
jods (plus spare if eventing)
lucky socks!
boots and spurs and whip.
box/trailer:
haynets
any feed for the day
water carrier (from feed mechants btw)
buckets galore
grooming kit
boot polishing kit
ice tight, rubber gloves, greaseproof paper and bandages
horsey and human first aid kit
i do take spares of all sorts, but the number of times i have needed a spare is beyond belief. the most common things are reins and stirrup leathers! hairnets and lead ropes coming a close second.
Meant to add it is a good idea to have a master list, or several different lists for different disciplines and have them laminated and stuck up in the lorry. You can then use a marker pen to tick off all the items and it can be wipe-cleaned for use next time.
