what do you think-could he have done this himself?

as the post title really, was grooming my big lad today, and he seems to have 'lost' half his mane since i groomed him at the weekend so do you think he could have done this himself? or one of his fieldmates got over zealous when grooming? or has someone swiped his mane

the top layer looks fine and not damaged in any way

Is there any youngsters in the field,we always had a problem with them chewing manes and tails,little b***ers.

that looks very strange he has proberbly done it himself my welsh has sweet itch and he rubs his like mad and his goes through stage one where it looks like that a lot shorter and then it gets shorter and shorter to the point where he has ugly little tufts lol

If you have babies in the field, it's possible they're chewing his mane. Is his tail similarly affected? Or is it possible he's putting his head through the fence to get at some grass and rubbing his mane off? It's odd that the top layer isn't affected though...

there arent any youngsters in the field, i thought he might have rubbed it but the rest of his mane is fine, no rub marks on it or his neck

ETS the fence is electric, so he doesnt go near it, hes a big jesse

Has some pulled mane zealot been practising on him? It's terribly level where it's shorter if it was rubbed or chewed you'd think it would be more uneven. You would expect the underneath to be shorter if it was being pulled and not quite finished.....

Looks chewed off to me. My horses is the same at the minute, half of it gone as his boyfriend likes to groom him!
