Sorry in advance but this horse buying malarky is worrying for first time buyer!
I haven't heard of this dealer before but she was advertising in yorkshire post. Does anyone like any of the horses off her website and have they ever had dealing or know of dealings with her in the past? Horses

Dont know but i likd the look of that grey hunter thats been sold

I better not try any more under 16hh

Bet it's chestnut as well

Just tried someone else's section D on here - was drop dead gorgeous but, apart from me not riding too good still, husband looked a right idiot with his long body and long legs. She was the sweetest thing ever too!
We really need at least 16hh and nothing too skinny. But then can't be too big because I'm 5.1ft.
People on here will soon wish I'd take up knitting and have done with the whole thing

I don't know the dealer but as a first time buyer take someone who is knowledgable & you trust with you. They will know the questions to ask, know if the answers given are believable & be able to be a sounding board for you.

Some people don't vet a prospective purchase. I believe it is money well spent & may give you some peace of mind.

Make yourself a list of what exactly you want, be realistic about your riding ability & don't overhorse yourself.

Above all don't be pressured into buying. There are loads of horses out there for sale & the likelihood of the first ones you see being the one for you are low. Look around alot & take your time, don't get frustrated & depressed. You will find the one for you!

Good luck

Hehe I'm trying not to look at that big chestnut but it does keep waving at me! I have a lesson tomorrow in the middle of the day far far away from york so I may resist it a bit longer but with half-term hols...

Thanks for advice. I haven't anyone to take as husband has only been riding 8 months and mum gave up riding years ago (plus her purchase of her mad anglo-arab was probably not a good recommendation for horse sense!). Someone from here has offered to give their time to give a second opinion which was really nice but I'd want to be sure I liked it before dragging them out. Last time I went to view a horse twice and videoed it for my instructor, unfortunately horse was sold same day so didn't work out for me. I would definitley vet any potential purchase. I have had a lesson on conformation but I know I'm still rubbish.

Yes i have heard of this dealer, well her husband, if im right Missugoopy had a horse from them a while back and also another friend of mine always gets her horses from them, will exchange if not suitable, but not dealt with them myself.

i bet it keeps waving at you! yes put it off for a bit longer, or why not call her to see what she has to say - no harm in speaking to her. Theres a lot of nice horses out there. Sure youll find the one thats right for you.

Can your instructor not go with you? Although a neighbour of ours took her instructor and is still terrified of her mare, 'cos she is really overhorsed. Best advice I can give is underhorse yourself, you will probably end up with two if both you and OH are riding, next one can be a bit livlier!

That name rings bells but I'm sure in a good way. If you take someone with you and have a 5 star vetting, you've got much more comeback on a dealer anyway. Some decent looking horses on there.

I know some of the ones to AVOID in the NE and she certainly isn't one of them!!

Might point my mate that way actually if its near York...
