What do you think inc tack means?

When we sold penny, I made it clear that the new red stirrups and expensive leathers were not part of the deal, but other tack was as was two turnout rugs a stable rug and a cooler rug and three saddle cloths, all these weren't much use to me cos they had her name on them!!! And I don't do cheap stuff so new owner got nearly s as much value in tack as the horse was!! But she went to an excellent new home. Am sure you could go and buy a cheap girth to go with horse.

if you have not stated what tack, you can give just the basics, headcollar, saddle, bridle, one or two of your cheaper rugs. I would suggest girth really should be included, but nothing says you must.( It is I believe a legal requirement to provide head collar and lead rope)

If you are buying it's probably risky to assume anything. I once viewed a horse which was advertised with tack. When I got there I was told I could have the bridle and a couple of rugs, but the owner wanted to keep the saddle for her new horse. I didn't like the horse anyway so it never became an issue, but if I had wanted to buy it I would definitely have haggled over the price. In my view the owner was guilty of misrepresentation.

I would expect to be able to unload the horse at home and be able to put what I have bought with the horse on and ride it, so bridle bit reins and saddle leather irons girth.
I have never bought anything with tack though as IME it never fits

Gosh, is it really? I never knew that.
Admittedly, the last few I've bought have been unbroken youngsters so tack issues haven't arisen. However, I always take along a leather headcollar when collecting them as i don't like travelling horses in anything else for safety reasons.

I guess it depends upon whether you have suitable stuff at home - I'm another that would prefer to buy the horse 'on its own', and only if there's a particular bit of tack that I've taken a shine to I may negotiate to buy that particular piece separately.

I would expect the saddle and bridle that I tried him in. That would include girth etc and any breastplate. If it did not include that then I would expect to be told before the price was arranged.

I also go with everything including headcollar and rope to pick one up, and delight in putting all my own stuff on to "take ownership".
