Hi, after my visit yesterday to BETA the equestrian trade show i am thinking of taking an account up with Barnsby saddles.
Does anybody have one? and also know how they fit the wider pony and has anyone used the working hunter saddle or the show ones?

Anyone used them on wide hunters or highland pony types?

Many thanks in advance

I've got one. We've had it for a good 8/9 years. Its on the little pony and fits him, he has an extra wide and is like a table! The leather is lovely and supple and softened quite quickly, it always cleans up like new and has a nice a comfy seat

or if i could find a barnsby dressage saddle....

i really like bansby saddles...at the hunt yard i worked in i was the only one to ride in the barnsby and i loved it.....it apparently was styled for men but i found it to be really comfy.

I love my Barnsby - is a Mary King model I think.....fits Twiglet perfectly and is so comfortable to ride in, for flat, hacking and jumping.

I've got 2, a Davison dressage and a Schokemohle CC jumping. Love them

A couple of friends bought a certain model pony saddle for table top backed ponies and have been delighted with them - sorry, can't remember model - may have been pony club??

Edit to add -I've also got an old (20+ years) dressage Barnsby which apart from a split on the seat is still going very strongly - leather quality is brilliant and after 7 years of using Barnsby's I've never had a horse with a back problem

I have a the Richard Davison Barnsby dressage saddle and love it.

Very comfortable, my mare goes well in it, has helped my position no end.

I have no idea how old mine is as i bought it from someone at my yard but it is in fab condition.

I have never ridden in any other barnsby saddle though.

I have one (on probable Hackney X), and so does my friend (TB)- both very comfy! Mine came with my mare but if I was looking for a new one I'd go for a Barnsby again.

Barnsby has been a well respected make for years; the leather has always been of very good quality as is the workmanship. I've used many of them mainly for the hunters and they have always been comfortable too even after long days. As someone else said, whatever is thrown at them the quality is such that they come back up like new (at least they used to!) and they seem to last forever.

I loved mine!! It was fitted to a sec d....by the saddlers themselves *blush* I worked in a tack shop that was within travelling of the makers and we stocked them. The people that worked a Barnsby at the time were fantastic and nothing was too much trouble for them!

They are fantasict saddles. The trees are so well designed that there is massive scope for adjustment aswell. Am currently hunting for a jump model
