i got my horse last october and he was extremely thin after a long journey from Argentina. I've been trying to feed him up for the past few months (well 8 now!) and would appreciate any comments on his now condition. will post before as he was pretty bad then.

first time i saw him- i kind of ignored how he looked as he was such a sweet horse even in this sorry state and i fell for him big time. He also passed a 4 stage vetting like this (asked for a 5 stage but vet didnt want to ride him as he wasnt muscled enough yet).

he had a huge lump on his nose that the vet drained for me at the vetting stage and its never come back- he said it was a cyst.

so any comments on his weight welcome , i know he has little or no muscle at the moment but he's just had a month off work so he can chill out in the field. he's approx 5 years old
now and we're starting a bit of schooling- he was broken in last summer after he came over from argentina.

he looks great now..just lacking in topline...

i wouldnt want to see too much more on him TBH

He looks 100% better. Perfect weight I'd say. Once he's in work and muscled up he'll look wonderful. Like a new horse

When I saw the 1st photo, I thought flippin heck, is that a serious question! Then I looked further down and realised that was a before picture. DOH!

Now, he looks really well and much happier in himself.
Job well done.

You sure its the same horse not a looky likey

He looks fantastic ! You really have worked wonders with him. Once he's muscled up he's going to be even more of a looker than he already is

Well done

He looks amazing and will look fantastic once you start working him and he muscles up - he's a very handsome boy!! Well done on getting him looking so good!

hiya- nope its not maximo although i know who you mean- Archies from the same place max came from and they do look kind of similar!! i dont think maximo was ever quite this skinny though

thanks for the comments!

Thanks for the comments everyone, much appreciated.

His eye dimples are getting smaller and less hollow now as he's filling out- lots of people have said he looks older than he is cos of them but he's been aged by 3 vets and a dentist and all agree he's under 5!

He's a criollo x Argentinian TB and was bred for the polo world but i got him first! he was from the criollo farm - they import a few every year and most look fab when they come off the boat but unfortunately Archies a bit of a woos and needs lots of one to one TLC.

He's coming back into work this week (i had laser eye surgery recently so combined my not being allowed to ride with a little holiday for him!) , he had a sports massage last week, the McTimony ladys coming tonight to give him a once over and the saddler coming later in the week to check his saddle over again.

Then, hopefully we can do something about the non existant topline (and mine too after a month off riding).
