Hi I was just wondering what your opinions on Rosie's feet are and weather you think they should be trimmed? Your comments are always gratefully received :)
Sorry there are alot of pictures.
The mark in this one is what the farrier did to stop a crack from going further.

Great frogs! Looks like the hooves are growing in well but then flaring. Being a non professional I would look to diet unless a diet change was made a couple of months ago and is just growing down.
 
up untill a week ago she has been on the same diet. She always seems to flare on her back hoofs. Her fronts just crack.
She was on Pro balance but now have swapped to pro hoof instead.
She has that plus small amount of speedibeet, 8g of magox (heavy) and 50g of mirconised linseed.

The main problems I cant seem to deal with (and would like some help or sugesstions) is:

Front feet wear more on outsides therefore insides tend to get long and crack.
She gets alot of thrush in her fronts only (I do pick feet out twice aday)
And her back feet flare.

Im not sure if this is due to diet, Environmental or Exercise.

Trying to learn as much about feet as I can but then trying to diagnose Rosie's feet problems becomes difficult! (thats where you lovly guys come in :)

ofcourse you must go ahead and get them trimmed, they are chipping because they are too long, the wearing will be the way the horse walks, and the heels look a bit long so farrier needs to check balancing, apart from that frogs look lovely and doing what they should be doing.
 
The 'flares' are normal growth for the draft type breeds but they need trimming and filing back to allow for a prevent them from forcing the wall of the hoof away - you wont stop the hoof from growing that way as its genetic - you can only deal with it
The horse looks as if it might have had laminitis in the past so you need to be careful of how much grazing it has and what sort of diet you have him on.
Keeping the feet regularly trimmed will help with any current cracks and splits and stop new ones forming
 
what makes you say she has had laminitis?
The only reason i was wondering weather they needed trimming was because i was reading alot of blogs from rockerly farm.
Dint realise that the flare was genetic - makes sense why it wont go away :)

Would an increase in Mag ox be beneficial? or is there something else I should do to help prevent thrush - I do pick her feet out twice a day I just heard there may be something feed related that could help?
 
She looks to have lines and ridges around her feet - could just be the photos - but may be a sign of laminitis attacks
Thrush is more related to ground conditions - always keep her stable well cleaned out and dry bedding and avoid having her on wet ground for long periods
You can buy various things to paint on the sole of the hoof to help kill it off - ask your farrier what he suggests.
Having her feet in a good trimmed shape and exercise will improve foot circulation and health
Biotin is a good supplement for hooves if its not already in whatever you're feeding
