What do you think of this and why so cheap?

no experience with this dealer, but the horse is lovely. 3 months warranty would surely detect any vices or problems. Well worth a look.

He looks lovely, but yes very cheap!!

I googled them and its probably a yard called 'west view stables'.. Name on horsemart/location matches anyway

Not sure if that helps with finding out a bit more??

Looks a very nice horse and with 3 months warranty im sure they have just got a genuine reason for selling him. They may be more interested in finding him a good home than getting a lot of money back.

Deffo worth a look though!

This guy sells all his horses really cheap. We have been tempted previously but i think if he is selling for that price how much did he buy for? Probably got them out of a market.
As he is trade you are covered under the trades act which means you have 3 months cover anyway.
Nice looking horse though

He looks very nice. I'd certainly take a look since he comes with a warranty and all. It can't hurt to meet him in person and see what he's like.

Thanks Dobbin, I have googled the name you suggested and have had a couple of pms to the same effect from others. Best to stay well away I think! (for me anyway).

LOL! They're dealers. Of course they're out to make a profit. They're not rehoming out of the goodness of their heart.

I wouldn't go anywhere near them!!

No problem, having found out the hard way (Through my own stupidity and and being overly trusting!) There is usually a reason that cheap horses are cheap!!

Lovely Horse BUT..... I be asking myself why so cheap

I have had my experience with dealers, I brought a Friesian which they stated to be 5 years old but turned out to be three, They neglected to tell me she had shipping fever, straggles and that she was half starved to death so she was VERY under weight. The vet scored her 1 out of 10!!! She turned into a gorgeous mare with a lovely nature considering what she went through but sadly I lost her at 5, I found her dead in her stable, Her heart failed her where it was to small caused but lack of nutrition while she was forming in the womb or as a foal.

Then several years later brought another horse called monty he was supposed to be 11 but turned out to be 15 and he cost us over 3 thousand pounds in vet bill as he had underling health problems and foot and teeth problems, He is continuously lame which lead us to believe the dealer put him on Bute to make him sound when we brought him. But he is staying with us forever now and we just brought some joint supplement called SNP so fingers crossed.

I personal would not touch this horse for 2 reasons

1) He is being sold by a dealer
2) You DO NOT know his history, you don’t know if he was backed early, how many owners he’s had, whether he has had a muscle injury ( because you got to ask yourself how did he get into the hands of a dealer in the first place), been stolen or has any underling health problem.

By the look of the pictures His legs above the fetlock on the cannon bone looks very swollen which makes me think he has windgalls which indicates he was over worked when he was younger, which could be the reason why he is being sold for such a low amount.

If you really want him though I only have one piece of advice for you TAKE a vet and a farrier and let a trained eye check this horse out.

Sorry for going on but I have had Such an bad experience with dealers and simply don’t trust them.

Good Luck.

PMSL. I just did that to be nosey and only needed to read one article!

There is no such thing as a gift horse! Nor a cheap one.

Amy my sweet - you MUST stop thinking the best of people!

The advertiser is a dealer, pics of his other horses indicate he turns them over as fast as he can so he won't have to feed them - check out this one - http://www.horsemart.co.uk/advert/5_yrs_15_2_hh_chestnut_irish_x_durham/65921 - who is at LEAST 100kg underweight!

A warranty is worth diddley-squat if the person who gives it won't honour it, or has disappeared - or if it comes with 'terms' (e.g. return the horse and we'll part-ex it on something that can stand up and doesn't buck quite as often!!)

All his horses look cheap (and underfed!) There are a lot of very cheap horses in Ireland at present (a friend has just bought a STUNNING TB filly, 3 years old, unbacked and unraced - for £480 - her sire's stud fee was 4 times that!!) I'll bet he brings them over and flogs them fast for a quick profit - and I doubt very much that the warranty is worth the paper it's written on (if he puts it in writing!!)

A good home to him is anyone who has the cash!

And if you click on the advertiser's profile you'll find his name is marginally mis-spelled (probably to stop you googling him

) He's well known to trading Standards and has been 'featured' on Watchdog!

I wouldn't touch him or his horses with someone else's very long bargepole!!
