What do you think of this horse/dealer??

Seems very cheap for a weight carrying novice ride, looking for something for my oh. Sounds like he has ground issues but that doesn't bother us. Anyone have any comments on the horse/dealer please??

Thanks in advance.

hard to say...I would give them a call and sound them out...even go and see him...ask them loads of questions while you are there...it may just be that they need to sell but home is more important than price...so priced to sell maybe?..I would check he's ok healthwise too...it may just be that he's a bit strong/pushy and could take the p if allowed...and things you can get away with with a pony rather hurt when you scale them up to his size & weight...just tell them nothing bothers you and ask them to be brutally honest and if in doubt, don't buy or ask for a trial...good luck he looks lovely x

I quite like the look of him.
I think the market is so poor at present, even good horses are selling cheap. So there may not be anything wrong with him.

He's worth a look for sure, only way you would find out :D

He's massive though, but I suspect if not right for the hubby, he'd be great for you ;)

I am afraid I really dont like his front legs, it seems back at the knee with long pasterns and flat feet . In a horse of that size I would worry about soundness.

I think the horse looks great and I agree with the comments so far. I don’t know about this dealer’s reputation but, as a salutary tale: a friend of mine, about three weeks after purchasing an Irish Draft from a purportedly private vendor near Staplehurst in Kent, discovered that the vendor was actually acting as a 'cover' for a local dealer and she was selling 'privately' those horses which weren't selling via the dealer’s website. My friend is fortunate that she’s delighted with her new Irish Draft but there’s other issues that this raises – not least being conned by a ‘private seller’ who in fact works for dealer and so strictly should be termed a ‘trader’ on the websites one would have thought. My friend spoke to the BHS legal helpline a few times during the purchase process due to the vendor requesting some ‘odd’ information whilst being evasive herself. 'Caveat emptor' was designed for horse dealers but dealers such as this one near Staplehurst tend to give all dealers a bad name, which is not entirely fair.

All was resolved successfully in this case but, if you are thinking of purchasing from a dealer that you do not know I would suggest that you tread very cautiously and talk to a solicitor/BHS legal helpline until you are quite sure that you're happy.
