What do you think of this horse?

I think it is bizarre that all the info does not add up.

Tommy, he is a 4 year old stunning 15.1h red and white gelding (not according to the photo, which shows a bay and white). I have had him since he was a youngster (since he was a youngster, what the heck is he now? 4 is hardly an oldster) and had never put a foot wrong. He is lovely to ride and drive. He is very calm in and around traffic and nothing will spook him. He is 100% in every way, snaffle mouth, very quiet in hand, good to shoe, catch, box and clip. He rides out alone or in company, will excell in all feilds in the right hand as he is a very quick learner.

And I don't know whether or not that's a freakishly tall fence, but he barely looks 14.2hh, let alone 15.1hh.

Smells fishy to me.

What are you wanting him for? He looks nice enough, but looking at his front end he is quite shallow in the girth and doesn't have the best front legs, so not a show horse, but He looks a nice type otherwise, and the price isn't bad either.

Think he looks very nice to me. Can see where you are coming from indigo moose but I think it's just they way it has been written, aslo prob just the angle and the way the photo is taken that is maybe not making him look 15.2hh. I like the look of him.
They may be genuine. Give them a call, get a good feeling then :)

Short in the neck and looks like he has a capped hock.

Seems to have done a lot for a young horse but if he is as calm as the advert says and you are looking for a safe horse he could be worth a look - depends on what you would want to do with him.

I think he looks kind , i know the description doesnt add up quite but def worth a phone call , I love coloureds but especially ones with a dark tail and not too much white. He's only 4 so if he's sound , he's not a bad price either.

I am from further north than where the horse is but know the area i would imagine horse will have been driven more than ridden probably is very good in traffic, i would ask for stick to be put on him so you can see via pic if needed re his height.

I would say he will be green ridden also may have a bit of trotter breeding in there most of the coloured types his stamp in this area have it in there somewhere just be aware if he has been doing alot of driving and they break em young around there he may need a bit of schooling to perfect a canter as they do alot of fast roadwork driving them at that fast trot.

He looks in good nick and not a bad price but i see your location is a good way off even if you transport yourself its gonna cost a fair bit to get him home and that could be added on to the price of a horse nearer to you.

I like the look of him. It's good that you've asked for ridden pics - bit odd to not have them in the ad mind. Maybe ask if they have any videos too?

Interesting what you say Trinity Fox. Have now seen the ridden pictures and thought that he looked a bit troter ish. And yes, canter looked unbalanced and legs all over the place but it was deffently canter.

Thanks everyone. Going to have a think.

I think he's sweet, and saying that shes had since a youngster may mean since he was a weanling, probably. As far as the red and white thing goes, if you look at the hair on him thats not clipped, it's slightly redish, my boy is def red and white, but when clipped is much darker, so maybe a slight variation in colour description. Some horses are just quiet by nature, young or old, so even if green, wont react badly to new things.
As far as I know, those ads are legally binding, they are here in Ireland anyway, so to say 100% bombproof HAS to mean 100% bombproof. I know from advertising from time to time that you have to be very vareful what you say in an ad, so I'd def give that little guy a shot!! Oh, and bythe way, the height thing may be a mistake, I know I measured my boy but was reading the wrong end of the level, so instead of being 14.3, he was 14.1 at the time. I was shown the error of my ways but someone much more knowledgeable, while they laughed their socks off at me. Best of luck whatever you decide to do!!

Don't like at all. He has no depth through the girth, and no length of neck. Capped hock, which I know is only a blemish, but you have to ask has he been worked too hard, too young. Also don't like the angle of his front pasterns either, looks like a candidate for suspensory problems to me.
Barge pole comes to mind, sorry.

Certainly looks a trotter type, and as above not a comfy ride. Don't really think he's such a bargain, but that may be because I work at the low end of the price scale!
Front end looks like trouble as lhotse says, pasterns don't look made for hard work.
There must be better horses nearer to you.

I actually quite like him. He looks like something you could have a bit of fun on.

He has no wither - which may make him tricky to fit a saddle to. But a capped hock is not the end of the world.

If your nearish and you think you can nock them down - worth a little visit.

Thanks for everyones input! you lot are deffently great to have contact with! My first inpression of him was, not great conformation but nice head and eye, troter type, green but willing and nice nature. Im not going any further with this. I think if he was better put together and a little less green i would be more inclinde to. Thanks again :)
