What do you think of this horse?

I'd have her like a shot. I actually brought a vet failure last year (suspensory ligament). She is now in foal. I didn't do all the box rest sort of stuff, just rugged her and turned her out (as she was competing until she failed it was too late anyhow for box rest I figured) - there isn't alot that 2 years in a field won't cure. My farrier did the same (think it was fractured navicular) and said he checked it for a year with binoculars! That came good too. My instructor reckons that if my mare heals then I have a £10K horse. I think that if she doesn't I'll have £10K foals! Thing is I do have my own land and would be resonsible and not sell on (unless honestly). Best of luck - she is georgeous (I would put her to Treliver Decanter):):):):)

Am waiting for them to reply to my email! I really want her now, have spoken to my vet again, after he'd looked at the ad and said that I could breed from her, so I did suggest that to them in my email. Really hope I can have her!

Have just googled Treliver Decanter and he is gorgeous! Off to find more about him ;) :D

I know its not the same but Im renting some land, which is why I'd need a companion in the first place, but I'd rather have a horse like this as a companion than any others.

I can't see my self having to sell my current horse or a companion at all, and if I was in a position when I could no longer afford them I would either loan out, sell honestly, or PTS. I couldn't pass an injured horse around, so Im quite confident on that level.

Does anyone know how much it would cost to transport a horse from cambridgshire to lancashire? Its about a three and a half hour drive, so do you think she'd need a rest inbetween?

(I dont know why Im planning this, she's not even mine yet :p )

Haha, I really like her, and I think she's got potential :) :D

With any luck I'll have her, but I dont know, I need to have a proper talk with the owners and then ring my vet again :p

Time will tell :)

What a lovely looking girl, I think if Im honest anything you buy anything without guarantee or a 28 days return policy it is always a gamble!!

I guess its your money and if you feel you want to give this girl a chance then you should go for it. However the thing to think about is how do you feel about passing this girl by compared with the feeling of lifelong veterinary treatment or the decision to have her PTS? (Im not completely literate with pedal bone injuries... surely it is like any injury though, some heal better than others and partial to full recovery can vary and you just have to hope)

Also there is the insurance side to her.. Have you looked at any quotes, insurance certainly wont cover if things do drag out with the pedal bone fracture , Im not even sure they will cover you with anything to do with that leg... Not sure on that one you would have to check...so it could be extremely costly for you.

Good luck though, I really hope things work out

Tbh, if my vet says that field rest wont do her any good so she'll need to be PTS then I wont buy her. If it is something that needs time and treatment then I'll decide then with the help of professionals :)

I dont think I will insure her, I don't insure my current one (though I do need to get him insured  ) . I think for her I'll just put £50 a month into a bank account. I think it will work out cheaper that way.

I dont know there's loads of things I have to consider, but overall I do like her and if I can give her a chance, I will :)

Thanks :D So do I :p

I really like this mare! Such a shame about the injury but if she does not come right, she would make a cracking broodmare/companion. Personally would not put her to Treliver Decanter unless you want a cremello, although he is a stunning boy.

I so hope you are able to offer her a future.

Owner has emailed me a video of her but I haven't been able to look at it yet. Am going to look at it tonight and I'll let you all know :D

The only thing concerning me is her owner says she could do with a couple of months of boxrest which I'd struggle to do so I'm going to speak my vet (yet again) :p and ask if he thinks she'd need it or wether she just needs time.

I'll take a look at the HM ad tonight, is it totally different?

Thanks guys, I'll keep you updated :D

The horse is a personal horse of the person who is selling, the mare is her daughters horse, so perhaps it is a private sale? I don't know... :)

Take that with a pinch of salt! Google the number and you get all sorts.
I am guessing most of what is sold is "a family members personal horse", but as long as you like her ( I know I do!) and are prepared for whatever may be wrong with her, go for it!

I've watched a video of her trotting in a field 2 days ago and to me she appears sound... when I was expecting her to be hopping lame...

But she is gorgeous :D :p

Ooooh just read this entire thread and i am really hoping you get her :) lots of photos if you do. x

You need to ask-

-When was the injury?
-How was it diagnosed..... x-rays? If so, you need to see them and get a copy to your vet if you're unsure how to interpret them
-What have their vets recommended?

If they haven't seeked a diagnosis and can't give any more detail, I'd steer clear, personally, as it all sounds a little dodgy!

She looks fabulous, I would probably take a punt on her but am a bit suspicious of breaking navicular bone jumping on hard ground - I would want to speak to their vet and my vet about it and see the x-rays. I would offer £400 because it is a risk.

I hope you get her :)

Sorry to keep you in suspense :p

Owner won't accept any less than £495 for her and says she's had lots of interest so I'm afraid its the end of the line for me. I wasn't prepared to pay that much :(

I hope this little mare finds a super home, she is gorgeous.

Who knows, if the owner reduces the price I'll have her like a shot!

Back to searching for me :(

Thanks guys and sorry to disappoint :)

Aww no, well i guess whatevers meant to be will work out perfectly. You will find the right horse for you hun, you sound like a great owner so whatever horse you get will be very lucky :) x
