What do you think of this horse

Oh I really like him what a stunner :D
I would say a few grand at least but am not that up on what horses are being sold for now so I could be completely off the Mark

Well I've not paid for him yet so if I been completely ripped off I might re consider ..!!! Only after some thoughts that's all nothing sinister..!!! First time I have in my eyes been able to buy myself a nice horse others always had issues and been super cheap or free. Just want reassurance I picked what appears to be a nice horse , not got a lot of experience at buying horses

if he is going well under saddle, has no vices or quirks and is pretty civil for his age then I would say approx £4,000. Its difficult to value from a loose school vid as the horse always has more expressive paces due to them being excited and how a horse jumps loose it not always a reflection on how it jumps under saddle.

Mmm, not so keen on the ridden vids but he is only a baby. As for price, a horse is worth what you can get someone to pay for it, so they obviously priced it in the right sort of region.

Just seen the ridden pics and sorry, but not overly impressed. He he VERY overbent which is stifling his paces and stopping him going forward. Its also making him croup high in the canter. If you do buy him I would spend some time getting him out in his neck and moving forward.

I think what you've asked is probably moot now.

I'm sure that you took a knowledgeable friend with you when you went to see him, and the vetting will have thrown up any issues.

No idea about price - as all I can see is a video, no description etc. of him, or ridden under saddle.

Good luck with him.

EDT: Just found ridden pictures - will be interesting to see how you get on with him, when he's being ridden well and properly and allowed to move forward freely.(Draw Rein City....!)

I like - A LOT!

Has a large sailing jump, I not sure about the ridden aspect with overbentness - but that could be worked through.

Pricewise on limited information - £5k - £7k ish!

In the loose school video he doesn't look to be using his hind quarters at all, but seeing how he is ridden I am not surprised, it would be near on impossible for him to get his hocks underneath him when he is being forced into such an outline.

Have you had him vetted? I'd strongly advise you to do so, I am not convinced he is right through his quarters though it is probably just muscle tension from how he has been trained.

Teambarney, I agree. OP I bet you wish you hadn't asked! I actually thought he looked stiffer behind in the ridden pics. He looks like he is a friend of the draw rein!

I dont know anything about his breeding but I guess you know/ have researched it.
He has a big jump ( if not a little to 'sticcato' off the floor and looks substantial with nothing in his conformation that jumps out. As he is working under saddle very overbent and with restricted paces you would have lots to work on, I would probably pay up to 3500 but todays market is rock bottom so I would probably be cheeky and go in with an offer of 2500.
Now tell us - how much are they asking!

i still to get my own 5 stage vetting done by my own vet , he just passed at end aug a full vetting but one done on contenant, £6500. When i rode him he went better than he looks in that video but i am unsure how long ago that video was taken , he has been worked since then by someone else. who has improved his way of going, but he still very young and clearly needs to be educated correctly which i will hopefully do (with help of course).

Charlie 76 - no i dont wish i had not asked, any advice/comments is welcome, ultimately I will go on what my vet tells , but its good to see how others see him, when i viewed him i was blown away mostly by his temperment, he is a absolute darling. I also likes his paces, which are so much better than in that video, he looks stiffled in that by the rider.

A horse like that I think you have to go on his trainability and attitude.
If he has both of those then with time you can retrain the bad habits he is picking up from what is presumably a dealer on a quick turnaround. He is young enough to do this relatively easily.
It's impossible to tell from a video if he is worth the 6.5K or not, it's the feeling under saddle that counts. Go with your gut.

Personally I don't think it's jump is that amazing in it's technique. Yes it jumps big but doesn't look like it lifts his shoulders. In this Market I would pay around £5k

He is 4yo for goodness sake, so what if he is overbent, and not working from behind, HE'S A BABY and from the little I can see is green as I would expect any 4yo to be. In fact, if I showed you a video of my 4yo, you would all be horrified, as I never sit on any horse until it is at least 4yo, never mind school it in any way!!!

I'm sorry Robden, I have to disagree - He's overbent because of his training - more than likely draw reins, this is stopping him moving forward freely and engaging (in any way) his hocks.

I have been lucky enough to be involved in the starting of several young horses, and none have gone in this way.

This horse is not 'offering' an outline, he is being forced into a forced one.

if he passes vetting which i hope he does as i really like him and i get him, he wont be forced to do anything ever again, also i am in no hurry, he needs time to develop and mature slowly , with help from the right people I am sure these things can be reversed seems he is so young.

Honestly i fell in love with him in the stable before even seeing him ridden, I never even went to look at him just stumbled across him in the stable block and was blown away with how kind he was. He is one of the nicest natured horses i have ever came across.

I love him++, he's a baby !!....I don't like the ridden video, purely because he's being forced into a bad outline by the rider. But he's a baby++ and i see allot of potential, i wish you well with him, i think he's awesome, and if all goes well with the vetting, i would love to follow his career, as i think he's worth every penny, just bad video's. He's just starting out in life and i wish you every happiness with him, as i'm sure in time you will go onto great things.
