What do you think of this youngster?

Personally find her gorgeous! But did you ask about character, etc.? If it's for you rather than to sell on, that's very important to know, and a mistake I made before buying my horse as a filly!!! With that I mean - willingness to learn, etc. Mine ended up being the prototype alpha mare that constantly challenges you.

She wasn't bad as a filly...

Very pretty, a bit steep on the price and I'm not sure if I would want a 2 year old that has been long reined, but it might be just me as I prefer them untouched:)
good luck selling her:D:D:D

Oh, but I paid a similar price for mine at the time (yes, she's now unrideable due to injury, so it was a HUGE waste of money) when she was about that age.

Depends on breeding. Mine had good breeding from either side, and would never have been able to afford her as a 5-year-old (though judging by the cost of upbringing, training and vet fees... I may have afforded a £25k horse after all!!!!!). Just saw that it's only the filly's sire that gets mentioned. Would like to know how the TB dam was - and what her pedigree is like. The price would be ok had the dam been a Warmblood, too, with excellent lines.

Plus, the filly's trot could be more expressive... that's what sold mine to me!

wow the price seems really steep - but then I'm not really up on my breeding. She's nice but nothing special IMO.

oh and a lot of horses advertised in h&h are ridiculously overpriced!

tasel - I did a quick bit of research on the dam - My Mary Lou (as it says in the ad) - A Irish TB that raced twice, very unsuccessfully (15th out of 16 and 12th out of 12). She is by Septieme Ciel, and American stallion, and out of a mare called Kutaisi (by Soviet Star). I am not a TB expert, but the pedigrees all look fairly mediocre, and I would not say Ramiro/Regazzo is amaingly sought after either. If it were my 2yo, or I were buying it, I would probably value her around the £2000 mark.

zoeshiloh - in that case, it's overpriced. But you are NOT selling your filly, right (the gorgeous big one)? ;)

OP - my mare when I bought her as a filly, as said similarly priced, BUT her sire's pedigree read like the who is who of the Holsteiner breed and her dam had some pretty legendary names in there, too. That, plus her nice look and paces have sold her to me. So, I think you should be expecting something like the way my mare was as a filly for that price.

I'd agree - our boy has breeding I would say as almost as good or possibly better than that, being by WB stallion (1st cousin to Helen Treadwell's Opportunity B) with numerous 'names' in his pedigree (sandro, silvio, nimmerdor) and out of an ISH mare who is a clover hill granddaughter - and I would have passed straight by his ad if it had been for that kind of price (try half of that and he still would have been out of my budget :). TBH I don't think he is even worth nearly that now as a backed 4 year old starting his competitive career!
I sometimes think two year olds are harder to sell than yearlings or three year olds as people want more for them that yearlings but unlike three year olds you really need to wait at least a year before doing much with them!

ETA She looks nice tho but just maybe not at quite that price!

she doesn't do anything for me! She is average looking, way over priced, and I don't really like the look in her eye, she looks like she will be a real handful

Just my opinion though

Too expensive

Pretty though

Long reined already, like someone else said, prefer them hatler handled only.

Looks too short and compact for my liking, or maybe just carring a bit too much of a belly that gives off that impression, but I like 2 years to look gangly, but thats just me.

Not something I'd go for if I had 5k to spend on a youngster but thats just me.
