In my opinion no. If there is nothing wrong with her then there is no reason she couldn't go on breeding for many more years yet. I wouldn't like to see any mare whatever age breed year after year but her age is no reason to stop.

You wouldn't think she would have many years left as a broodmare really but she seems fit and well in the pics- probably why the stud have decided she is part of their stock reduction? Sweet mare though!

I personally think it would be unfair of her to have nay more foals. 23 is a grand old age for any horse let alone to still keep having foals!

Mowgli, I certainly don't think she has " many more years left " of breeding in her and if she were mine I would be giving her a good home where she could retire to just light hacking and plenty of TLC.

She's probably bred many foals and now deserves a nice retirement

That's fine - we are all entitled to different opinions, however, there is no problem with breeding a fit and healthy horse in it's veteran years. And why on earth should she retire to only do light hacking?? She's 24, why is she suddenly only fit for light hacking? My friend is still doing 2 hour mad hacks on her pony and he's older than this mare!!

As I say, different opinions but mine remains unchanged!
