What do you think of this?

nice face, however not my cup of tea....pasterns too long (for MY liking), looks a bit straight through the hock, croup high - but then that could be because hes young.

How much experience do you have with breaking and reschooling? As racehorses can be hard work to retrain.

its nice, and a good project to re-school and sell on. i would also say that its pasterns are long but this is proberly because the horse was bred as a race horse.

Hi - well Im still very much at the browsing stage as we're looking to buy a youngster, and then my instructor (AI) will be doing a lot of the initial work. I have just loaned out my gelding only 14.2 but brought him just backed and is now a pc schoolmaster. Very different from a racehorse I know and I wouldnt dare do this on my own but we have the time, and are keen to take on a project, as long as the potential is there. So, thought I would post a few on here to see what people think, and get a better idea of what we should be looking for (before I take details back to my instructor who may just slate me for being a sucker for a pretty face).

I think he looks nice. not all horses have perfect comformation but can still make great horses. He might be a little over priced for an ex racer (ive never paid more than £500 for one) Dont be put off that he is an ex racer they can make some of the best riding horses with a bit of work and arnt the nightmare many people lead you to believe.

OK, I just really liked the look of him -very kind eye and the decent body photo doesnt seem to flag up anything too obviously catastrophic? Looking for something to potentially make a good RC horse, nothing extraordinary in the dressage world. I may give them a call this eve, its a good 5 hours from us though so it may be the spanish inquisition before we go there. Anything to look out for specific to ex racers? As I say I would have someone far more experienced than me to help out and view.

I wouldn't travel 5 hours to see him - where on earth do you live? If he was local or if he was something out of the ordinary I'd say definitely go but not for your average neddy. If you want an ex-racer to reschool why don't you try ringing up some trainers closer to you? They might have some for sale or know of some... you should certainly be able to pick up something for under £1k without having to travel huge miles.
