What do you think to this? 6th sense?

As some people know a few weeks ago I took on an older collie who's owner had become ill and was unable to look after her.
After a tough first week (she pined and struggled with out other dogs) she's become quite settled and happy. She eats well, plays and is always happy to go out walking.
Until this morning. She's a lazy girl and won't get up for my o/h who comes downstairs and let's the dogs out first thing so I come down a little after, give her some food which she eats straight away. Then I let her out.
This morning she wouldn't get up at all for anyone. Neither would she even sniff her food. I left for work a little concerned but not too worried- I put it down to a long walk yesterday eve.
Got a call this morning to say her owner died in the night!
She's still not eaten but is up and more herself but it was strange!
Reminded me of my nan telling me the dog, who barked from the moment the family got up until my grandad took it out remained silent the day he died?!
 
I've seen some stuff, and it wouldn't surprise me. My big dog knows when OH will be home, and sits by the door 5 mins before he arrives to wait. OH is home at different times every day. There is no way he could know, logically (we live in a suburban area and there are a lot of cars, so he's not hearing OH coming). A lot more going on than logic allows for imo!
 
My first dog always knew when I was coming home even when I was living away and came home without telling mum .
He even sometimes seemed to know when I was going to call home on the phone ( he went and sat on the chair he used to look out of the window ) and a few minutes later I would call .
Mum was convinced he had a sixth sense .
 
im sure they have a sixth sense. My first dog knew exactly when I had left work to come home, although it was always at different times, and from different distances away, and would sit on the door mat and wait for me refusing to move until I walked in.
 
It does seem possible that she knew in some way. I have heard of such things before.
By the way it is great that she is settling in with you, well done.
 
Thanks Chiffy, she's a lovely girl. Pretty sure she's lost a fair bit of the fat already. She is happy now and loves her walks and playtime.
Never been a collie fan but I'm even finding myself thinking how pretty her face is!

Someone did point out yesterday which has worried me a little that now the owner has died a will may surface and he could in fact have plans in place for her. Not sure where Id stand if so.
Hopefully not but it wasn't something Id considered before!
 
i agree there are things we just cant explain, more than coincidence.
I really hope she gets to stay with you, as she seems to have settled well.
 
Oh poiuytrewq, it would be so sad for both you and the dog if she has to move again. I hope if anyone has been put in charge of her future they will see its in her best interest to stay where she has now settled.

I'll be honest they will have a fight on their hands! Hopefully it won't be a problem but you know when someone plants an idea in your head?!
On the plus side we have moved house and no one really has the new address ;)
She's quickly got a place in my heart and has helped with the loss of little dog. The labs have and are only really interested in each other... She likes me!
