What do you think winter will be like?

We have had a great summer here in the south east. We had weeks and weeks with no rain, if fact we were desperate for it and to be honest we could still do with a bit more. The ground is still rock hard.

I don't mind if its cold again or snowy, as long as its not wet!

Wow that brilliant :D We were also desperate for rain at few stages!! Normally we want it to stop lol :p

Yep, wet is horrid and dangerous!! The worst is when it rain and freezes, lethal!! x

On the basis that our boiler broke in March, and we're just in the process of having a replacement fitted this week, I forecast it'll stay warm and dryish in the Thames Valley anyway - one of those years where there's no need to turn the heating on till January I reckon.

Yep, very hard work and didn't every where come to a stand still? x

Hopefully they will have pulled their fingers out and got prepared for it this year then, if (haha, who are we kidding?) they have that will guarantee a mild winter for you all.;)

I'd be getting my own personal salt/grit supplies ready now, just in case, forget relying on the Councils to be organised.

I don't actually find winter any harder at all, chuck hay out, check water troughs, rugs and feed. Job done.:D

Hoping for cold and dry, can cope with snow, but please don't let it be a wet winter! I can cope with anything else, just not MUD! And now I have a 4x4, I desperately want to try it out in the snow :D

have people forgotton that we had weeks and weeks of scorching sunshine this summer? It was only august that was bit damp. I have just had 5 weeks off and only had to put a waterproof on once. I really wouldnt say that was a bad summer!

I was just going to say that! We had a great Summer (E Devon). Lots and lots of lovely hot sunny days.

My only (mild) complaint might be that the grass has been a bit on the thin on the ground this summer, due to the heat and lack of rain. Just hope hay prices dont go through the roof again this winter because of it!

Thanks for replies guys :D

I to hope it is cold and dry hate the mud!!!

Can't wait to have snow as at college we have some massive hills to go sledging down so want lots of snow this year :D:D:D:D:D

I am also gonna buy my own grit this year, last year was horrendous and it wouldn't surprise me if we had a replay of last year!!!

xxx

I think we had an ok summer. I assume winter will be much like any other - usual wet, windy, cold with about 2 or 3 decent snow periods. I doubt we'll get a winter like the one we just had for quite a few years.

Already I hate it - Am sitting here at work with freezing cold, soaked feet from walking about in the peeing rain. AND to make things worse I've just found out that the last BE of my season is postponed tomorrow, am very much hoping they run it next week!

Well my TB already has a fluffy head and neck and a smooth body where her rug has been. I've never seen her do that before. It'll be cold.
