Ok, so ponies are bored and due to have there shoes off as they are just not getting ridden

Anyway, as a rescue centre we are always short of money (just got the feed bill for last month - £652!!!). We've had a lot of people asking when the car boot sales are starting again (these won't start until the horses and cows go back out to free up the barns) so we were thinking we could have a sort of open day in February if we open the tea room and the shop with pony rides and things.
Do you think we could say if people spend £10 in our little shop, you get a free pony ride? 50p a ride otherwise, just up the track.

Any other idea of things we could do?

Good idea, just make sure you have Public Liabilty for riding, I assume you already have a Licence for the riding. Food is usually the biggest generator of funds, especially things like home made cakes.

You could do cheesy things like have a raffle, the winner getting to "adopt" a pony so you would send them pictures and letters?

Guess the name of the pony.

Horse themed biscuits and cakes.

thanks, Yeah we've done it before so i'm sure we have licenses and stuff. YO will sort that lol.
yeah we have a few people who make cakes and things for us.
just have to hope for a dry day!

sounds like a good idea. What about some sort of photo competition, like cutest pony, best turned out etc etc, people bring their photos on the day with a sticker on the back to be returned in the post, judged and returned with a certificate (print your own on the computer so don't have to pay for rosettes) ? That way people have got something to stick around for (looking at all the other photos) and eat more cake!!

50p per pony ride seems V cheap, even if just down the lane, I'd say at least £1...

when i worked for an RDA center we did £1 pony rides hired a bouncy castle and did games sold "lucky" horseshoes half of them werent horses from the yard we asked the farrier for a big bucket full then grouped them similar ones together and said they were the horses on the yard so people that had got fav orses or had just had a pony ride could buy the shoe of the pony they just rode (again £! per shoe) a bit naughty but tbh they dont know the difference
