I posted this in breeding but need as much feedback as possible if you wouldnt mind

The situation is i have a healthy 18yr old 14.2hh mare
She has had 6 foals previously, the last one was about 7-8yrs ago
I want to put her in foal this year for a future riding horse for me when she is retired
I dont want to over strain her and thus thought it best not to go too big
What height stallion do you think would be the biggest i should risk putting her with to keep pregnancy risks slightly lower, as much as one can that is?

I should think about 2 hands bigger would be sensible.

What size riding horse would you be hoping to produce and what kind of build/weight?Not that the outcome is ever certain but you can aim in the right direction

Maybe have a word with your vet. Many years ago I lost my mare that I had bought already in foal - vet said foal was too big for her.

well 14.2-3hh is ideally what i would like

i dont want to take uneccessary risks thats for sure

I'd go for a light 15hh.
