He was the club pro - purchasing horses was only part of his job. He taught students, schooled horses, groomed, etc. He took care of his club, as without us he had no job. If he got us good horses, we played good polo, buy more horses - considering he made $200-400 per horse at the club per moth, the more horses we had the more money for him. If we had shitty or lame horses we would not enjoy it as much, play as much, buy more horses, attract new members, etc. He really was there for us.
I would never pay anyone who was serving both sides and I believe he is one of the best paid club pros for this reason. $250 per horse at a club where he has 30 horses, and his only expense is the groom is not a bad business for someone who plays off 2 goals.
