What do you tow with?

I had a 4.6 petrol range rover vogue, great to tow with but less than 15 mpg. Was costing a fortune. Now have a diesel merc ML 350 for towing. Haven't been off road yet but so far it tows well. Used to have a trooper, it was fantastic in muddy fields.

dad tows with a defender TDi but he wants to get a discovery V8 with LPG conversion as it would be so much cheaper to run. He used to have a sieries 3 V8 and that was cheap on road tax and insurance but not so good on the mpg.

How about getting a cheap little car as a run about and then keeping the 4x4 for towing.

dahiatsu expensive????
ive had a disco, lwb shogun and last august sold the shogun and got a dahaitsu fourtrak, definatley out of all of them the cheapest by far!!!! had under 1/4 of a tank of fuel on saturday and filled it to the brim and it was £49!!! also few wks back towed a very large horse and very big trailer 60 odd miles i'd put £40 of fuel in expecting the worse and i still had enough fuel to last me the wk travelling to work! our bmw car is more expensive to run! (and breaks a lot more)
i'd recommend them to anyone, unless there's some strange reason mine doesnt use much fuel.......

love my SWB shogun. It's an R reg and although has needed work done to it it tows liek a dream. Not too bad to run either. I put £50 in every week and do nearly 250 miles back ad fro from uni and work. Towing I did about 180 miles to SLM and home the other day from where I live and it cost me £50 in fuel with an ifor 510 and my horse. Not too bad :) I love it and feel so safe in it!

I would *like* to tow with a dark coloured low mileage Fourtrak, 1999/2000-ish reg, pref with 7 seats and side-steps, if anyones got one they'd like to swap it for a TD5.....;)
