a sulphur based cream that my vet sells, called arthur wason heel cream, catch it quick and it sorts it in a couple of days. I have recently got some powdered sulphur to go down the pig oil and sulphur route and will use the sulphur+sudocrem recipe too to see if it works aswell.
mud fever cream made by the vets! aqueous cream + antibiotics + steroid. works brill as a treatment. but prevention is better than cure!! i grease mine up with udder cream, or pig oil. dont wash often let the mud fairies clean the legs up in the night!!!
thanks for all your replies!
iv got the vet coming on mon anyway for the foals vaccinations so will get some treatments. im usually really gd at keeping mud fever at bay,but the oldie got a smal cut which let the bacteria in & it went wild so hes now got a very sore leg & hes not exactly the best patient! luckily the hard ground/snow is keepin it clean for now (box rest is impossible with him!)
