What do you wear on your feet?

Aigle neoprene wellies with lambskin insoles and barista crocs (so they don’t have the holes in the front).

I have two elderly ponies so I know I won’t have to deal with shenanigans, if I had something that could be a sausage to lead I’d wear something a bit safer.

I tried muck boot wellies ..sore feet!!

Went back to my percussion wellies.. wore them all last winter including dog walking, so miles each day plus horses chores, feet not sore once ...and dry 😁

Thank you for making my chuckle.

You post made me think of when I wore bells on my wellies to poo pick because Ben was scared my the jiggly sound of the girth buckles when trying to tack him up. 🤣 🤣 🤣

ETA - I didn't know that was also a brand of welly boot - I honestly thought of musical boots. My BAD!!

My yard is full of crocs, gives me the heebie jeebies 😂 Caught someone lunging in them!!!!
Oh my god yes, I went to see a yard about some holiday cover recently and both people were wearing crocs, 🤢 My first ick was the amountof bits that will get in them but turning out big silly horses in crocs is surely asking for trouble.

Exactly!! I get enough bits of haylage and shavings brought home on my socks without holes in my boots! Imagine the volume of arena sand you'd have between your toes after lunging 💀

Croc people are dedicated to the crocs though.
My cousin had to buy non horse crocs as she kept wearing hers to do the horses. The amount of times she states “I didn’t wear the right footwear” as the mud sludges up into the holes as if they were ever the right choice for horses 😂

I have the worst feet, or I used to until I stopped wearing cheap boots. During the summer I have been wearing Sketchers Waterproof trainers and today I've put on for the first time in ages my trusty Bareback Country boots. I cannot wear wellies at all, as my feet just don't like them. Obviously country boots are leather so my feet don't get sweaty.

I used to wear cheap boots and go through a pair a season at a minimum. I've recently purchased Mountain Horse Protective Jodhpur boots XTR, which have a steel toe cap because me and my boys are all pretty clumsy! They are honestly the most comfortable boots I've ever owned and are super lightweight too. They do run large though by about a half size and they are also not too chunky to have a casual ride in.

For wellies, I love my Muckboot Chores and they have a neoprene inner so they are warm, waterproof and very comfy. I'm sure they do mid and short versions now too...

I am also in the against crocs crew - I know one livery who lost every toenail when his (fully shod) horse trod on his foot 🤢I can't bear to think about the dirt and grime you'd undoubtedly collect in them while mucking out...imagine pee soaked bed between your toes. No thank you!

I wear ariat grassmeres rather than wellies, not cheap but they do last and are water and mud proof
Ive got a pair of cheap zip up short riding boots for the summer
Our yard and fields are all a bit uneven so need a decent boot to avoid turning an ankle!

Tuffa endurance boots with waterproof MTB socks in winter, wellies only if dire for short periods. Wellies are too narrow for my feet in general.

Yes I do currently have two purple toes 😂

Trainers and nothing else if not at work. Bought jod boots for my lesson the other day, stayed in them all day. I have Merrel trainers/walking shoes which are great for muddy conditions. I used to love my Ariat Tellurides, yard boot but also fine for riding in.

I have lived/worked in ariat telluride boots for years, I do wear wellies in winter, Le Chameau, basic short ones with heel raisers in.

I wear Asics trainers. I over pronate so GT1000 and GT2000 are the best models for me. Right from day one of wearing them I felt all sorts of new aches and pains as my body was adjusting to standing how it should but it only lasted a few days. From literally being unable to stand on our concrete yard and hold a conversation without being bent over and walking off in considerable pain to be able to stand for over an hour! From hobbling the 20ft from car parking space to front door to bouncing out of the car! I can run a little, walk at speed , run up and down stairs, jump over small brooks and get up off the floor without having to heave and haul myself up, i really feel they have revolutionised my life and feel so much better. Obviously that's also something to do with losing weight too but as in horses, no foot no horse and this really couldn't be truer for me.

I wear them to and at work and have asics i use for the yard too. The blue ones are my work/everyday and I have about five or six other pairs too!

I bought mine 2nd hand from Ebay most were around the £30- £45 mark and retail new around £100- £150. Sounds gross but they have very minimal wear, are professionally steam cleaned by the dealer I buy them off and then I pop them in the washing machine with anti bacterial liquid stuff as well as clothes conditioner and they are fantastic. I use foot spray daily too.

I have plantar fasciitis so need to be really careful with footwear. I wear waterproof walking trainers in summer which are the most comfortable. In winter, as long as it's not horrifically wet and muddy (we're lucky that our gateway is stoned and I'm usually last getting the boys in so they're at the gate.) I wear Merry People waterproof jodhpur boots (they're more of a fashion boot so maybe I'd call them a Chelsea boot). They're really comfy, have arch support and come in lots of lovely colours. I bought them for dog walking but ended up wearing them to the yard too. My first pair cracked so I sent them back and they told me to wash them off every day, spray them with silicone spray regularly and keep them in the dark. I'v done that and the second pair are like new still. If it's really wet, I wear my Aigle Parcours, they're great but the Merry People boots are just much easier to put on an off. I'm always between two sizes so I did buy the Aigles in the bigger size and put some really good insoles into them and they've been a big help too. I also have a a pair of emergency wellies at the yard in case I call in on the way home from somewhere. They're Harry Hall neoprene ones and weren't that comfy but were big enough in the foot (they're very wide) to put an insole in so they're now pretty comfy too. They're very easy to get on and off too but not as warm as the others I have.

I too have been doddling around with a pair of light trainers (yes I know the doomsayers will say these sort of soft shoes are unsuitable for the yard, and yes, would agree, but my poor tootsies have been mega-hot this summer).

My "go-to" for yard work, mucking out etc has always been a pair of Mountain Warehouse lace-up walking boots. Generally cheap on e-bay, and usually durable even though I have had "used" ones; but the last pair just weren't, even though they were "ex-factory". Reckon they were seconds TBH, just didn't last.

For riding, I struggle with the average joddy boot, as have both wide, and small, feet. This creates a huge problem in choice of boots. I do have a pair of Mountain Horse lace-ups, but they are way too long in the toe for me and I'm looking on Ebay for another pair of used ones in a smaller size. Can't afford new.

I don't trust MuckBoots, not since I slipped badly in a pair and hurt myself. The sole was just useless on them.

I wear shoe zone ladies boots which have lasted me about 9 months so far for riding in, with half chaps over the top. But I don't go anywhere muddy in them and only usually ride once a week hacking out. They have an over pronate sole in them which I fitted.

I've lived in wellies for years. I always have sore feet. This summer I gave in and have been wearing trainers- Not previously done what ever the weather as I can't stand getting bits in my shoes, but its been so warm i had too.
I just wash them constantly so its worked well, also my feet no longer hurt.
put the wellies back on yesterday in the rain and instantly achy sore feet. They were new wellies earlier this year. they feel slighty tight when i first put them on but fine after a minute. They don't feel uncomfortable as such but i can't face the thought of another winter in them for hours a time.
The trainers are obviously not even slightly water/mud proof.
They will be my most worn footware- any suggestions?
Normally boots from mountain warehouse

I have Morton’s neuroma, only wellies I can wear are muck boots as they are wider and quite well cushioned. Only actual muck boots though, cheaper versions no good ☹️also Ariat boots half a size bigger. I was thinking the other day walking the dogs that you can get new knees and hips but bad feet you are stuffed!

Waterproof walking shoes (not boots) From decathlon, cheap and last well. I don't know what I will wear when the gateways are underwater though, wellies don't help my achilles problem.

these. I have moved back into them today and will move out about next March when it stops raining. I use insoles. Waterproof for yard work, I can comfortably walk for an hour on the roads long reining/leading and I can ride in them. I alternate a couple of pairs and put them in the airing cupboard overnight to air. Wellies cripple me very quickly. My feet are quite wide and no problem for width in these boots also just 2 velcro fastenings ie no laces to do up.

Sketchers slip ins for just walking around the yard and stables (both of which are clean and relatively dry.)

now looking to see if skechers do "slip in" short boots or more rugged trainers.

I wear trainers in summer when it’s dry and Ariat Tellurides the rest of the time. Most of my shoes have some orthotic insole addition for arch support. I rarely wear a welly these days even with arch support. I have some Aigle Parcours but they’re really heavy and tiring to walk a lot in. Also have plain Chameaus but they’re too close fitting to wear an insole so I only use when I walk on the beach.

I've been dapping about all summer in a pair of Adidas terrex goretex trainers. Great for walking the dog and general yard duties when it's been fairly dry/just a bit of dewy grass. Will be going back to my Dublin country boots when it gets wetter and also trying out my new wellies from Decathlon .

I've also got a pair of ariat walking style boots that I bought last year (Moresby) and they're crap! Have leaked 😭 very disappointed

Ariats were the boots of choice for the staff I had to order for for a few yeasrs, and then Chams in winter.

No idea what the quality are like, last time I bought a pair was a couple of years ago, both the short riding boots and their more outdoorsy walking boots, but I'm a polish and clean boot freak.
