Just wondering what do you wear while riding or competing? Fashion wise not safety wise!

I don't put in any effort when heading up to the yard.Normally I just throw on a loose baggy t shirt (to hide the recent weight gain :( ), old baggy jumper and whichever jods I feel like that day! I don't wear make up at all even, honestly I look like a 20 year older-sleep deprived version of me. I think I should start putting in more effort in what I wear riding as off the yard I'm actually very fashionable and when I come up onto the yard the odd time as my normal self people are amazed!

As its winter and bleddy cold! I wear thermals, jogging bottoms, several jumpers and long boots.

In the summer it's johds and a tshirt. Jumper if cold

I am a very practical Sort of person and since horses can be dirty work (all the feet picking, poopicking, mucking out, hay wheeling etc etc I do not see the point in getting at all dressed up! Personally.

Whatever I am wearing at the time. :D

Jeans and shirt in summer, +/- sweatshirt, trainers or whatever boots I have on.

Jeans, chaps, or ski pants and as many layers as it takes, plus neckwarmer and toque in winter.

..... and No, no photos.

Most of the time I'll wear a polo shirt, either with a vest top or long sleeved top underneath if it's cold, and then a collared jumper over the top. And then either my waterproof if wet or big 'horse coat' if it's cold. Big thick Mountain Horse thing. Love it.

And then most likely navy jods as I have 2 pairs of them, both with holes in!

Whichever t-shirt I first grab in the morning, usually a hoodie but have taken to wearing just a rugby shirt on top instead due to my lovely new soft shell jacket keeping me toasty! If really wet will have gersemi waterproof thick coat which is lovely and either jeans or my prosperi waterproofs if cold/wet! No make up, when working with horses it's not worth the hassle! Everything has got to be practical.

WHY TF would someone wear makeup to go riding? I see a lot of that around here, and it frankly mystifies me. What's the relevance? The amount of slap I see some young girls wearing, that ages them by 20 years...where do they find the time? And seriously, the amounts of mascara I see at SJ nights, I wonder that their eyelashes don't glue together to prevent them seeing the jumps! :D

I like being fashionable, but honestly, this blasted country is too cold and wet and miserable for me to feel like bothering. Layered fleeces and hoodies are the order of the day, warm and waterproof boots, and when necessary one of those long rain-coats for riding that make the wearer instantly look about 80 years old. I confess to daily Pikeur-breeches-wearing, but that's for their water- and wind-resistant features, not for fashion.

I like having my pony's name on my hoody, though! :o It probably makes me resemble a 7-year-old girl in an unfortunate way, but I think it's fun, so there...

I read the title and thought "clothes"

yes I know there always has to be one!!

layers is always good - involving vest tops, t's poloshirts, and sweatshirts, topped off with what ever jacket is flavour of the week. THen jods with thermal chaps and 2 pairs of socks and yard boots

Polo shirt and hoody - pretty much always :). Trackie bottoms of some description usually, and if I'm feeling energetic I sometime can be bothered to out jods on to ride in - but quite often just ride in trackie bottoms.

I'm very rarely without a coat of some sort on - I feel the cold really quickly since I've been poorly, and I like to have pockets :). My Musto blouson is most definitely my favourite favourite coat ever, but also have a toggi longer length coat and a puffa down gilet thing as well.

And hats!!! I have a super big fleecy hat that covers my ears and down the back of my neck that is permanently attached a this time of year!!!

Boots wise. I am an ariat convert over the last couple of years - ariat Wellies, and grasmeres for when I'm not mud wading and for riding in :)

Yes - I most definitely have to have one of everything!!! I'm one of *those* people! But in my defence I do use everything that I own :)

I think the cause for me caring so much is due to the fact I've been in the same school since I was 4 and have never had a uniform so I'm so used to presenting myself well daily and when I go to the yard all scuffed up I just feel 'wrong' if you get me?

I used to be more 'proper' with what I wore when riding, but now I often wear jeans or thick trousers (i.e. courderoy type) and since my riding boots are over 20 years old with holes between my foot and the ground (!) I wear my everyday boots - which include knee-highs from Dr Martens to Tescos! I often wear my PJ's and a hoodie or ski jacket on my top half (since they're going to get dirty anyway). In my profile pic I am wearing my fluorescent pink sports (aka PJ) top. So classy! ;)
I always wear make-up everyday whether I leave the house or not, including when I go to see the horses. This isn't out of vanity but because I have bad skin and there are very, very few people I can bear to see me without it.

Hmm.. at the minute, usually jods (if they have holes, tights underneath) or denim legging things on bottom, couple of pairs of thick socks, vest top, tshirt and hoody, with smelly cheap ski jacket over the top. Footwear wise, a pair of walking shoes.. they are damn comfortable, warm and keep my feet dry. I've taken to wearing them riding lately, they have great grippy soles and sit nicely in the stirrups.. unlike my jodhpur boots which seem to be the most slippery shoes known to man.

I hate wearing hats so tend to go sans wooly hat. Pretty stupid really as would help keep me warm. I cope with four layers on top and two on bottom for general horsey chores and add my long riding coat for riding even if it's not raining as it keeps the wind chill off.

The only problem I have is lack of pockets so one can tend to find on a good day my cell, keys, money and tissues all tucked in my bra. I would do an embarrassed smiley here but I don't know how :)

No one on here seems to wear thermals, especially long johns... How are you not all freezing to death?
I cannot go up to the horses without long johns let alone ride.

:D it depends what I'm doing and what the weather's like :D I definitely don't wear make up... Heck it has to be a really special night for me to put ny on, I certainly don't wear it to ride

on a normal winter day, jeans or jodhs, polo/rugby shirt and a hoody or wooly jumper...

in summer, it ranges from the unflattering

to the wildly impractical :p

WHY TF would someone wear makeup to go riding?

Guilty!! :D

But only on evenings when I go to the yard straight from work to ride (spring/summer time) and then its usually only whats left from me putting it on before 8am & prob most has rubbed off during the day :D

Rest of the time for riding; no make-up, jodhs/breeches, long or short boots with half chaps, t-shirt & zip fleece, topped with whatever jacket to hand is suitable for weather :)

Oh - and hat & gloves :D

jods, hoody, polo shirt, blouson jacket and either muck boots or my hkm belmonds if i'm meeting fellow horsey people in the pub afterwards!

Jods - usually my grey check full seat jobbies - they are v comfy and I love them. T-shirt, long-sleeved polo or fleece over and my MT waterproof, fleece-lined blouson (bought it at Burghley - love it - it's wind-resistant, waterproof and really, really warm). Unless it's REALLY cold (so below zero) I don't bother with gloves. Two pairs of thin socks and my Mountain Horse paddock boots. For riding, I either wear my really scruffy half chaps . . . or if I'm feeling show-offy I put my MH long boots on ;).

No makeup, hair pulled back into ponytail . . . in the mornings I usually only get as far as brushing my teeth - and I generally have a bath (and wash hair) in the evening after I've put the boy to bed. My beauty routine generally runs to making sure I've moisturized my hands and face after all that cold, wind and rain ;).

P

trackie bottoms / jeans / jods, with vest / polo shirt / hoodie / gilet / jacket.

jod boots and gaitors to ride, Dubarrys to kick about in.

I am one of those guily of wearing makeup to shows, with a pair of blingy studs.

I just think it pays to make an effort! I'm not expecting to pull a hot man or whatever....

Spring / Summer - Jods and a t-shirt/vest. Thin jumper if needed, or might wear long sleeved top. Light coat if it's raining. Maybe gilet. Wellies, Dublins or my short boots with thin socks.

Autumn - Jods, t shirt, hoody. Coat if needed, sock thickness dependent on how cold it is!!

Winter - leggings, jods, t shirt, jumper and/or hoody, coat or gilet. Gloves, scarf and ear warmers. Thick socks, plus welly warmers if it's really cold!! Usually end up stripping half of it off though by the time i'm 10 minutes into mucking out!

Riding boots to ride in. If I'm hacking in winter I wear either super thick socks and riding boots or muck boots!

Might wear jeans if I haven't got any clean jods. Wear jeans/trackies if I am doing show prep. And make up? Depends on if I already have it on before I go to the yard!! For a show I do put make up on though :)

If I'm riding, jodhs, a tshirt and a hoodie and in winter a thick coat and maybe trackie bottoms over my jodhs if its freezing, in summer, jodhs or leggings depending on how hot it is and a strappy top. In winter if I'm not riding I just go down to the yard in a hoodie, t shirt and trackie bottoms, and in summer it depends, but its either a strappy top, shorts and leggings, a long top and leggings or anything I can find that's suitable for the temperature really!

So basically, I live in hoodies, but can be quite fashionable when I want to be :D

Mainly hoodies and jods.. im about to go feed my boys in pyjamas and a hoody though! I rarely wear makeup to the yard, unless ive gone straight from somewhere else. But i do think its nice to make an effort at a show.

I'm very rarely without a coat of some sort on - I feel the cold really quickly since I've been poorly, and I like to have pockets :). My Musto blouson is most definitely my favourite favourite coat ever.

I always wanted to get a blouson jacket but my body protector is so chunky so I'd look like a balloon with a blouson ontop of it!

I forgot to add if it's cold I wear a skiing baselayer on top and tights under jods or if I'm feeling really lazy, tights under trackies. Also a neckwarmer. Sometimes two pairs of gloves. Usually two pairs of socks. My Ariat Glaciers which are ridiculously amazingly warm. A woolly hat if not riding, I have a lot of woolly hats, ear flapped ones, pom poms on top, brightly coloured, I make them look stylish! :P

Polo shirt or hoodie, with beige jods (always wear beige, no idea why!) with riding jacket and Toggi Calgary boots.

Simples. I do wear makeup, but I don't wear it especially for the yard. I have eyeliner and mascara on everyday.
Hair ALWAYS tied back, usually in a low bun to accommodate my riding hat.

Jeans!!!!!

I only wear breeches to have a lesson or compete in.

Decent breeches are too expensive to risk damaging on yard or hacking- I buy the £15 skinny jeans from Dotty P's (or 2 pairs for £25- I think ;)) and they are brilliant enough stretch to be comfy and warm and they look decent enough for me to stick my Uggs on and got to Sainsburys.

Always ride in something that has a pocket for my phone so in winter a jacket and summer a North face micro fleece gillet (i usually ride 1st thing so not too hot) which I need to find another of as its brilliant.

In summer, a polo shirt or vest, jodhpurs, jodhpur boots and chaps. In winter add multiple layers on top, but I won't be doing any winter riding this year :(
