i weight 7 1/2 stone, i'm not over-weight, but could lose probly half a stone if i didn't eat so much chocolate!!! i'm somewhere between 5'4" and 5'7" tall.

13 stone 10 (and losing!) so heaviest person to own up so far.... horse is 15.1 (maybe 15.2..) chunky arab (see pics in 'do fat riders make your blood boil' post). Im 5'7".
am 11 stone something and have a 16h tb, oh is 13 stone something and has a 15.3 tb - neither horse is particularily stocky but neither have had any issues from carrying us!
last time i checked i was 10 and a bit stone.....but after comfort eating and not riding for a few weeks i think its more like 11 stone! however i have joined the gym so in a few weeks i hope to lose a few pounds. the horse i ride is 16.2 (MW) thoroughbred x warmblood so he is more than capable of carrying me. i am frequently put on more lithe horses in my lessons though, and sometimes put on a 14.2 pony - however he is quite built! so maybe im put on these lithe thoroughbreds because im smaller than i am actually am, people see me differently?
if i was a serious competitor i would obs be more inclined to lose weight. if only for the photographs!! my legs look baaaaaaaad in beige jodhpurs!
No no, you misunderstand, I don't think you're fat either, I think lots of people who think they are overweight are not!
I also think that you can be light and unfit, and heavier but toned, and I suspect that a lot of people who think they are a little bit overweight are actually not overweight but lack muscle tone - if they toned up they would weigh the same, but look (and feel) a hell of a lot better! That's all. I am at my heaviest (and slimmest), when I am fittest, mainly becuase muscle weighs more than fat. It is why I have never understood wanting to loose say, half a stone - you'd be better off doing a lot of toning exercise - you'll look better but may well not be any lighter...
I have tb's x Qtr horse (a whole collection from 14hh upwards) oh and a 16.3hh ISH. I am 5ft 6 and 7st 10. My problem is I am sure the horses don't know I'm there most of the time.
mare is 15hh and pretty 'built' although doesnt have feather (she 3/4 QH)
i'm 8st 6 ATM but was 8st when i had her and was riding all the time (bloody weight gain due to lack of horse!!)
... I guess with tack and hat etc tha's probably nearer 18st
Bo is a 16.3hh MW Warmblood with plenty of 'blood' and Trike is a 16.2hh MW Warmblood with a bit more 'warm' than 'blood'
Both horses compete quite happily to their relative abilities and neither seems too bothered about what's on top judging by the way they get off the ground
I do tend to bear my weight in mind a little more when the ground is particularly hard as obviously there will be additional stresses on landing...but other than that they are treated the same and react the same as they would with far lighter riders on top.
Ooh...btw...the doc recently told me what my 'ideal' weight should be according to all the literature....aboujt 12st.....and then told me to forget ever trying to achieve it as it would be practically impossible for me to do ! I am currently trying to lose a stone or two though...but it's a long and slow slog
Ahh yeah I get you. It just really irritates me when somebody goes on about how they need to lose weight when they're about 2 stone lighter than you [assuming that you're a healthy weight yourself] - its kinda like, you think you're fat, what do you think about me?!

Completely agree! No, I don't think I am fat at all, I know I am about right, and that I would drop down dead if I were 7and a half stone! But the number of people I know who say they are overweight and I just don't see it, I see them being unfit and lacking tone, which IMO is very different from being obese (which is what I think of when I think of overweight).
No idea what I weigh lol don't have any scales.
I think I'm probably 9 stone something... I'm 5'2". I know people a good 5 inches taller than me who are nearly 2 stone lighter, but I'm muscley so I'm not bothered.
I ride a variety of horses at the riding school ranging from native 14hh to 16.3hh.
I am moosively overweight and about 5'5, my mare is a 15.1hh T.B x cob, she can still buck and try and dash into the distance with me so i guess shes fine
my weight usually fluctuates between 12 - 13 stone and I am 5ft 6in and I ride a 15.3hh lightweight TB and a 16.1hh ID x TB who is rather chunky neither struggle with my weight and both will jump with me on board and prefer me to ride or behave better for me than other people who may be lighter? I hack mainly and do dressage with the TB but we pop over logs, little gates etc whilst riding out, when hacking we can be out for a couple of hours my TB does not sweat up or react adversly.
Im 5ft3 9 1/2 stone. I have a 16.2tb. I have no worries about him managing to carry me. I work at a RS/livery yard, out off all the horses I ride there I can think of one I dont fit..he is a 17hh cleveland bay, I think I am too small for him as he acts like he has no idea I am on him!!
I weight between 12 1/2 and 13 stone and backed my 3 year old Selle Francais this year. She is now off for a few months until next year where I will bring her into proper work. So I have a little while to loose a few more pounds (have just lost 1 stone
I weigh somewhere between 9 - 10 stone, don't know how much exactly as I am desperately allergic to scales
(it's a side effect of my chocolate addiction)
My boys are 16.2hh and 16.3hh and by the way the smaller of the two plays up they have no problem carrying me, he has no idea I am even on him
