Hi guys, sorry not so au fait on these posts?

What does it mean when someone puts the words bump or bumping up on a thread?

Sorry to be ignorant. :o

Im guessing it means ditto?????

It means that by "bumping" the post would go back to the first page and top off the list so more people can view it.

people will "bump" a thread to move it back up the list of threads to stop it being pushed down the page as new threads are posted.

hi hun
someone will bump a thread if there are not enuff rsponses to it - ie if you start a thread and noone answers it the thread will be sent further and further down the pages so if you bump it it is a way of getting it back onto the first page, sorry not a very good explanation ut i tried lol:D

It Stands for B-bump U-up M-my P-post...Bump!To get it back to the top so its not lost at the bottom,so people post

I'm pleased you asked this, I didn't know what it meant either! Thought it was something to do with being pregnant lol! I can now join the "bump" club!

erm, no it doesn't, that's what's called a backronym, for some reason people were convinced that B U M P stood for something (which it doesn't, it's just the word bump used to keep a thread active on a board) so someone somewhere invented Bring (or Bump) Up My Post... which doesn't make any sense since you can't move your post, you can only affect the thread as a whole.

:)
