I am a support worker for people with learning disabilities, doing agency work at the moment, but they haven't had very much work for me the last few weeks so I'm looking for a permanent job.
Seaofdreams: What a great way to spend your life , it must be so rewarding.
I was in a very stressful job for over 30 years, now retired (early) & I drive a little van around village schools, delivering school dinners & ferrying thing item between schools part time. No stress, enjoy it very much & it pays for my horse. Have I died & gone to heaven?
Qualified Nursery Nurse and BHSAI but haven't worked in either of those fields for many years.
Used to have my own rosette company, now make customised sashes (think serious bling and lots of beadwork) mainly for miniature pony clients which pays for the horses.
Other than that I stay at home and do domesticky stuff and pootle about the place doing odd jobs.
So many interesting, and varied occupations on here.
I've done it successfully for 25 years, loved it, and managed to make a decent living at it. But I'm seriously contemplating not doing it professionally anymore so ask me again in a couple of months.
I do the transport for one site for the largest fencing company in the uk, absolutely hate it, lots of stress, winter of boredom, summer of crazy hell and crap money!!!!! Offices drive me crazy!! Have been a dressage groom and a veterinary nurse but couln't afford to do it anymore. Will be back with horses one day, it;s my absolute passion! Thinking of setting up my own company, so ask again in a few months!
I used towork in financial IT, but it looks like I'm going to be made redundant whilst on maternity leave so I'm probably going to go back to teaching riding as a freelance intstructor for the next few years.
Im a Veterinary nurse. Been nursing for 5year now and still love it!. Very demanding but also very rewarding. Plus get everything at cost price for doggies, cats and horse plus discount on my horse insurance. Dont think I could ever change my career.
I run my own livery yard with around 30 horses. Do all the work myself, but have help 4 mornings per week to give me the time to play with my own horses.
I can vouch for Enfys rosettes - she has made them for me in the past and they are excellent. It was such a loss to South Wales when she moved to Canada
Isn't this interesting? What an amazing variety of skills and jobs - and we all somehow manage to fit them around horses! I have my own management training and coaching business, and just so appreciate the bit of freedom that being my own boss gives me to spend time with the horses ... who take up most of the money that I earn (the bit left over after my daughter has had her share that is!!!)
I'm a part time local government officer working in research and consultation.
Also part time rider/instructor/groom for a big local riding centre where we buy and sell, provide various types of livery and also run a small riding school.
Guess which job pays a living wage versus which job I actually like LOL
I'm an Investment Manager for a large Investment Bank (not allowed to say who but they are American and based in Canary Wharf)... I keep buying those lottery tickets though... I'd love to have my own Arab Stud/Show livery yard... one day...
