We have a wee dressage comp at the yard next week, its a fund raiser being held by an arena party to raise money for there trip to the olympics next year. Mare will be plaited (to look pretty of course ;) ) and white jods, saddlecloth etc but I do not own a show jacket!! I only ever competed unaffiliated SJ with my last lad so didnt bother getting one. Will i look like a numpty without one?

Could you not just borrow one for the day from someone else on the yard? its nice to look smart for your test but I can understand why you don't want to spend money on a jacket for a one off!. Mind you, where I am, even unaffiliated SJ would still require a jacket unless it was very very hot!

White jods
black boots and gaiters
white shirt
white stock with shiny bits (rubbish description I know :o)
Navy velvet hat or skull cap with black silk
Black jacket - would like to get jacket and hat to match but have no pennies
Schooling whip
and pony has white saddle cloth

as for the no jacket thing if its hot you wont look at all out of place but someone wore a waist coat last time I was out like the ones for in hand showing. Could you not borrow some one elses?

You could wear tweed as well, there is bound to be someone on your yard that does workers :p

Good luck :D You should be at armagh in the coloured class :p
