Can a horse that is a bit lame in the feild have a comfortable life on one danilon she is eating drinking and still has a roll but is still lame but walks around to eat grass!
I think it depends on the lameness and to be honest so i would ask the vet to see what type of pain it is. But I think the horse 'in itself'' would be a good indicator. i.e if the horse is question is happily mooching around and rolling, looks bright and is doing what horses do in the field, then yes I would say they are ok. I mean we all have aches and pains and can limp and whatnot....
But if the horse was unable to perfrom 'field' duties than I would investigate further actions.x
Depends what is causing the lameness.
Is it pain or stiffness or mechanical ?
Many of us are lame without being in agony. My OH takes a daily anti inflam in order to be sound. I don't see any difference with a horse other than yo0u would have to be vigilant about it's well being.
There are many different grades of lameness due to all sorts of different causes so I don't agree, lameness does not equal so much pain that the horse can't live a happy life in the field.
Many horses cope with the help of danillon and if you think the horse is happy then that's fine. I think the horse will tell you if the pain is not manageable so go with your gut instinct.
She has an arthritic pelvis witch is causing her to be very un even/lame she has been seen by a vet who suggest we put her on 1 danilon a day to see if this helps like i say she dont work the best but she walks around as good as she can to eat the grass hay etc she eats her feed she drinks still wees and poos normally and she must be rolling coz she is always covered in mud. I find it hard to see her not walking probally but all other things she seems happy i just want to do the right thing for her?x
