I'm going to a fancy dress party tonight. It's mostly horsey people and the theme is "dress spooky". Have decided to be literal and am thinking of attaching lots of plastic bags to my clothes. Also going to wear a head torch (my horse spooks at that), an umbrella for someone else's horse and a whip for someone elses.

Any more really spooky things out there... that I could attach to my clothes.

Shadows, pheasants, bonfires, fog, leaves, wind, haylage bales, drains, gutters, cows, cross country jumps, water, dirt, gravel, mud, dead patchy grass, electric fencing, trees, bushes, rubbish, need I go on?!

Mine spooks at the pair of curtains that have been dumped on the road side and the pillow cases a bit further up.Not really and desensitizing you can do to prepare for that.

his own reflection in parked car windows occasionally and things in hedges which cant seem to be seen by the human eye most of the time.

Old horse used to spook at different shades of grass. And dock leaves.

Current horse spooks at most things, including his own water bucket. He is a special creature and needs a fair bit of reassurance that the world is not ending every damn day

Trees.... and wood. My horse spooks at trees and wood. Yay?

My horse is stabled in a large country park so there are lots of fallen trees that are carved into some shape or other, my horse looks very closely at each one of these.

Men with sticks, crooked people, and golf umbrellas are the other things to watch out for.

Merlin spooks at goats, large suspicious looking rocks, gateways with secret cows in (you know, the ones where you don't see the cow until the last minute) and more than 2 motorbikes - 2 is ok, more than 2 is very dangerous and scarey indeed.

SP has a special gift of seeing things nobody else can...

He also doesn't like men in cowboy hats at the side of the arena, the judges box with judges in at C, a coffee mug placed on the fencepost, anyone with a child in a backpack carrier - (must look like a person with two heads - very scary) or backpack sprayer (resembles the hunchback of notre dame) or people on crutches as they move funny. Killer squirrels.

The SLOW sign on the road that she has been riding along for over 10 years!
Anything plastic that (vaguely) flaps.
Leaves & any plant with very large leaves
Birds in the hedge (dragons in disguise)
Gates that used to be closed & are now open (or vice versa)
Oh, many other things but as she is 23 I think I have given up drawing a list!

Oh - forgot - she spooked at the judges dressage table every time she went past it and snorted, very loudly. It was mentioned on her score sheet........several times!

people pushing pushchairs/prams.

pushbikes if they come towards her face on (coming up behind is ok).

kiddies trying to stroke her.

and lots of other stupid things.

Dustcarts, Tractors, Trailers and Lorries don't frighten her at all tho !!!!!

Well if its anything like today when we are coming up to a yellow line and people walk across it he decided that they were really scarey and it was hard work trying to get him to go forward, but normally it is large stones in hedges that he has a problem with but he was fine with them today, oh and sheep in fields. If only he knew what was coming cause I have sheep and he is going to be put in one half while sheep are in other so that he realises they are not going to bite him, he can be a bit of a scardy cat even at 17HH..
