My tack is like my pony really, very good in its day but on the older side now. Daughters tack doesn't say, but screams, in pink 'i'm a little girls pony'

The actual tack worn & the various fluffy or blingy bits matter little. I believe that too many people ride in filthy tack & seem to think it's ok/trendy/etc to scorn tack cleaning & think it's ok to ride in dirty bridles/saddles & bits & consider tack only needs cleaning if going to a show?

Apart from showing respect for yourself & your horse by having clean tack it also ensures you tack remains in good order and you can examine it thoroughly as you clean. You wear clean clothes, you wouldn't eat with dirty cutlery so why do many people seem to think it's of for their horse yo have to wear dirty sweaty numnahs & bridles with sticky bits.

I have bridles from many years ago that are cleaned regularly & as a result are still in great condition & are still being used. Quality tack is too expensive to not look after.

Ive got my dressage saddle and bridle
Jumping saddle, bridle and martingale
Various bridles an older saddle, still fits, kept as spare ,and several bits from when 3 different horses were in work
Boots for jumping and xc, over reach boots, ive loads of boots from when my 3 horses were working.

All my stuff is good quality, the very best i can afford,i work hard to pay for it and personally dont give a flying fig what anyone thinks of it as long as im happy with it and it fits my horse well

Mine is very basic, properly fitted saddle, decent bridle. I can't really use boots cos he has huge feathers. I don't see the point of crazy amounts of matchy matchy unless it's something to protect the horse.

I like my tack to be clean and smart, I cannot stand non matching and I like good quality tack, hazard of running a tack shop I guess! Oh yes and I forgot I even have a fleck whip!!

if i could change the title of this thead I would! To trends/fashion!!!

Its been taken way out of context and I really think most readers know what I meant!

I knew what you meant :) I amongst others (some proper dressage people as well!) have poked fun at matchy matchy, dead sheep, gadgets etc MERCILESSLY on the Roll Up thread. I do know what you mean; some people seem unable to function if they're not perfectly colour-coordinated. I don't see the point, personally. I'm happy if my tack is clean (which of course it always is ;) )

Just like some folks like their outfit to match, i assume its the same mindset for their horses equipment to match, sometimes just clean and tidy isnt enough.
I do think they look good and it does show theyve made an effort, they'd probably freak their knickers at the fact ive got a brown drop noseband on a black bridle just now :eek::eek: i do have a black one on order though, as that mismatch would bug me to leave it

Right, I'm going to jump in here while I think about it (no real reason, just cos I remembered!:p) and it seems like as good a time as any, to have a mini-rant.

Ok, here goes....

I do not give a thing's wotsit how much matchy matchy, bling, poncy sheep fur, patent, shiny stuff people put on their horses-it matters not to me-but people, please, for your horse's sake....

WASH YOUR BIT OFF AFTER USE!!

It's one of my pet hates (really?), I really feel for the poor horse, having to have a rancid, filthy bit stuck in it's mouth. Don't know any horse owners who never wash their cutlery, and I'm sure they'd find the idea of using a crusty fork abhorrent. Bleurgh!

What does my tack say about me? Don't know, never asked it. :D

My tack says that I like something a little flashy...and that I am obsessed with cleaning/maintaining it, lol!

Well draw your own conclusions. Mine is all black, expensive good quality brands or made to measure bespoke. Its all looked after well, sometimes its not as clean as it should be, but its oiled and cleaned fairly regularly.

I am not a matchy matchy lover, but its each to their own. I just prefer to spend my money on other things.

Plastic (purple) bridle, synthetic saddle and girth sleeve, generally with boots.
What does it say? I hate tack cleaning, have a horse who injures itself on thin air, and spend most of my time covered in mud.
