I’m looking for gift ideas for a dog owner! I see all kinds of dog gear in horsey shops and think they look lovely, and if only I had a dog.. like the equidry stuff for dogs. but what are the really good items that you’d be thrilled to receive as a dog owner (if you hadn’t already discovered it)?

The dogs in question are two frenchies.

So, I actually use old towels. But our walks can get particularly muddy etc.

Drying robes are great. And go from cheap and cheerful to expensive. Some people like the bags, but my dog would hate it. Personally I think towels are better than mittens.

Yes, agreed, as with the towels you can wrap the dogs.
Ruff and tumble do good drying coat things.

I think most dogs would freak in the drying bags, so I wouldn’t assume they’d want those.
You can get dog treat hampers?
Drying robes are useful except Frenchies… do they go out in the rain?
Yes I should think so. In winter they will get soaked on walks I would think. Even my sister’s chihuahua gets wet, and she hates walks 😂

This is brilliant for drying our dogs. Bought originally for the horses but it sidestepped to the dogs and is now the firm favourite. They have various drying rugs as well that are sometimes used after the mit 🐶

A more budget version is Rydale for drying coats. I love mine. Both have a Ruff and Tumble but i find that i need a few in mid winter to wear and dry/wash etc so I got both mine a rydale and really like them, especially for my bigger dog.

These are early versions of drying robes.

Waterproof coats (we’re putting those on tonight)

Bags and they also have updated towelling robes in this material, it’s far more absorbent than the first ones, but I’m quite fussy about what I want on mine, so I’d be careful what you choose. Youngsters are in separate bags, it looks like they’re both in one!

Or how about a first aid kit? Mine is far superior to the human one, vet wrap, cloth tape, Animalintex, gamgee, all been in use this week, one of mine sliced the side of his pad on something.

Maybe treats, but again, I won’t give mine certain items, it’s a bit personal.

Ty! And bonus points for pics of your gorgeous dogs 🤩

My coco bag! I keep it packed with bags, treats, my spare car key, wire cutters and a few other random bits. Makes my life easier grabbing it every time rather than thinking have I got everything.

I've got cheap drying coats from amazon, we got swimming most weeks so they get a lot of hammer, cost me about £8 and look good as new.

I got this as a present a few years ago and love not having pockets full of treats poo bags etc!

I have a cocopup bag which is great, with poo bag dispenser and treat pouch. I also have an Aldi knock off version which cost £5 a few months ago.

I have a knock off one, it's so handy as I hate treats in my pocket because I always forget they're their and put them in the machine or I get mugged by random dogs when out and about 😂

I've seen personalised type ones on Etsy if you're looking for something a bit more frivolous and gifty while still useful @Nocturnal

Lots of great tips, thanks all! I ordered a couple of drying robes, love the idea of a personalised treat bag too. Might have to get one for my horse treats, so tired of finding treat mulch in my pockets 😂
