Anyone recommend a good quality driving harness to use on a chunky 13.2hh traditional cob, leather or synthetic, really I would like a coloured one (like the one I have put a link to but I am rather skeptical over how good it will be at such a cheap price) so anyone used that harness, is it any good? or can you recommend anyone who sells similar but good quality. Thankyou

Mine has a zilco harness, but then it is ex full and they were only company that did ex full..
The nylon ones are quite strong, and can go in the washer when dirty, and you can get poly pads for saddle area and breast area if you are worried about rubs. Such a nice colour for a pony too.

would get the pads anyway even if top quality one... just a little worried how strong the stitching will be as it does seem very very cheap :/ but do like the look of it (would be for my little 13.2hh black trad cob)

There's a reason it's that cheap compared to others, it would probably not be strong enough thread (clothing grade or similar) and likely to come apart under strain. It's worth paying a bit more for peace of mind - after all, should something go wrong you're trusting yours and your pony's life to that harness, and if its poor quality it could well end in tears. Personally I wouldn't touch one in that sort of price range, sorry :(

I have got a rather nice one made in Poland. Pony size fits from 12hh to 14hh so would do your 13.2hh. Nice chunky leather harness. Bought from local supplier for very reasonable price.

though i brought pony, was / is very happy with it just ask it sent hermes not collect +,

only seen zilco one's in black, am after a red one in the style of the one linked to on ebay but better quality, fully aware it will be cheap for a reason :) anyone know anyone who makes them in that style in red? synthetic or leather, pref no more than £600ish

There's a Libby's one on eBay with different colour options, the pic shows one in lilac and navy but it says in the description they do them red all over or red and navy too. More expensive but better quality I would think and they are a known brand (another thing with those cheaper 2 are they have no brand name)

also just got my robinson trap, we just put her in to check the shafts, first time ever yesterday for 1 min max
still being built as you see

If you have a budget of £600 look for a 2nd hand good one. I got a full size zilco with empathy breast plate and quick lease, almost brand new for £550. I also bought a new pony tedex from Barbara at Equifor - she was brilliant and very flexible as some of the harness needed to be Shetland size so I could mix and match parts. Also you can add colour by buying coloured brow band, pads, boots etc.
I just looked on Eqifors website they have a 2nd hand pony tedex for sale at £325 + p&p.......

I have zilco too and a big advantage that all the bits are amiably separately as all my horses have been between sizes so have some cob some FS to make up a set.
I would look for second hand too.

This is a very good quality harness imported from Australia costs hundreds and its red looks good on Tia

make is Zurich

My colours are blue and yellow but choose to use just black in my pony as I think it looks better against the dun

We have the zilco Tedex harness too, it's been great. I also have a Cottage Craft set which I sometimes use for breaking but that isn't one I'd recommend.

Driving can be a dangerous sport, if something goes wrong and the harness breaks, the results can be catastrophic, so I really wouldn't use a set of harness that cost £50.

If you buy a good set, you can always sell it if the pony does not take to driving. Zilco, Tedex, Rene Schoop are all excellent synthetic sets. Dragon Driving is a good place to browse, you can get a good idea of what's available and cost.
