Personally I wish we had Le Trec and Team Chasing up here. I dont think Team Chasing happens anywhere in Scotland, and my nearest Le Trec place is hours away! Nearest Jump Cross is 2 1/2 hours away.....

I also wish we had derbies. Like a mini-hickstead! I believe down in England you have the odd Derby? Its just another one of those things which hasn't hit Scotland much (if at all) yet.

And lastly I wish our BSJA's would hold more fun classes. I remember when I first joined years ago that summer shows would offer Speed classes etc. but I rarely see anything other than the usual BN / Disc / New / Fox and Opens. There's the odd mini "Grand Prix" classes but thats it. Where's the good 'ole one-round Speed class and why couldnt we run that fun class they do which involves 2 identical courses lengthways and you race against another rider?! How fun would that be!! I think thats the sort of thing BSJA needs to get more sponsors because it would up spectators.

Decent Riding Club events. The RC's near me are pretty small and low key... I'd like a bigger more competitive club where I could do some team stuff..... loved Ardingly RC when I was south

Muirmill in Ayrshire used to do derbies but don't know if they still do.

I agree with more fun BSJA classes.

Don't think we have any BE events in Essex either, but we do have BSJA and BD at Towerlands and Norton Heath

edit - and other BSJA but can't remember where

Unaffliated SJ on a surface. Patchetts is the only place that really does SJ on a surface. Addington has stopped doing unaffliated SJ, Snowball doesn't do any in the summer. And everywhere else goes onto grass

More Aff prelim dressage at weekends pref a Sunday. My husband has to work some saturdays. I work away too so sat gives me a chance to practice

Hear hear! I thought Hertfordshire was supposed to be a 'horsy' county - my closest BE (lorry-time-wise) is Berkshire College, in Hampshire!
Also agree with the fun BSJA classes comments. Would love to do a 'take your own line' where all the fences are worth different points. Its all just BN/Disc/Newc etc etc. Or actually amateur 90cm, amateur 1m etc etc as well these days!

None really, I live in a really good area, we have 6 derby courses within an hourish, about 11 show centres that do BSJA/BD. Absolutley loads of BE. I am very lucky

The Unaffiliated SJ classes of old:

Take your own line
Power and Speed
5 bar jumping
Chase me Charlie
Topscore - well our club runs this but not many takers to be honest

And the most exciting of all, run at Ardingly once in the indoor school, was a speed class. Two identical courses next to each other. Two horses. Start bell goes - first one over their own set of jumps and through the finish wins that round.
Winners of all first rounds come together for next heat, and so on, until the last two jump off to win. Very very exciting, but you need a vast arena to do it.

The one I used to hate and don't wish for again is 'Fault and Out': knock the first jump down and you're out!!
