My TB x is 5 and a half and in light work I guess. She goes out about 4 times a week on 2 hour rides at the weekend and with the odd SJ comp in winter. She was on cool fibre cubes and Alfa and I have upped her to a scoop of conditioning cubes and a scoop of Alfa twice a day. She lives out all the time but is at the moment looking good. My question is when it gets colder and if she needs it, what should I up her conditioning cubes to? I've emailed feed companies and the responses are varied! She's had a suspected gastric ulcer in the past.

Thank you in advance :)

If she is prone to ulcers then I would go for a feed such as those made by the Pure feed company. It is exceptional quality feed. I really wouldn't go for special conditioning feeds. I would keep it basic and feed Pure Easy or Fast fibre with micronised linseed. Also feed as much good quality hay or dry type haylage as she will eat.

Thats interesting, I will have a look into that thank you. Well she had a suspected gastric ulcer when she was about. 19 months old as she wasn't being fed enough (before I owned her). That's why I'm feeding what I am at the moment as the feed people suggested low or non cereal based feeds

Second the fast fibre and linseed. Lots of hay so the stomach constantly has something to work with and because fast fibre is a hay replacer you can feed big buckets of tht for horse to graz on too.

My little tb who had suspected ulcers has been on pure easy since oct and so far is looking the best he ever has. Lasst year he had speedi beet and alpha a and tho looked good did drop weight even when rugged. This year its pure easy and lots of hay and everyone comments how good he looks, vet said he looked perfect and is only rugged in extreme weather.

My girlie tb is on pure feeds a mix of easy and condition and looks great, also noticed a big change in her attitude for the better, also ad lib haylage.

From looking on here and personal experience your best bet is Simple Systems, Pure feed (which I am using now), fast fibre, linseed (you can up and lower this as required) and supplements such as pro hoof and pro balance I have heard are very good although haven't had experience of them myself. Plenty of ad-lib hay/ haylage.
