Yes, I hear you say, it can make your grass grow!!
What happens if you use more than you should? You get lots of grass!!
What happens if your horse gets onto a fertilised field too soon?
Well, see what happens in three days from a small spillage of fertiliser. If it can burn grass like this, can rot machinery fast, imagine what this would do to a horses mouth. Doesn't really bare thinking about.

Absolutely - A friend of mine had horrific injuries to her mares mouth caused by someone throwing grass cuttings into the field - fertilised grass cuttings

Poor mare had horrific burns to her mouth and she never really recovered, she had to be ridden in a hackamore from then onwards

A few years ago our shire came in with itchy marks all over him, he looked like he had been stung,or burnt with a cigorette, vet didnt know what it was , he rubbed nearly all hair out on his face, arse and top line we could'nt use him for rest of the summer. I am convinced he had rolled on fertiliser farmer had spread but nobody else agreed.

Daisy has the constitution of a rhino. Four days after her field was fertilised in the spring she took it upon herself to jump the 4ft fence from her summer field into her winter field. I found her there in the morning at about 9.30 so goodness knows how long she'd been in there. She got away with it and was absolutely fine but we had a worrying few hours waiting to see what would happen to her.

I must just say WE dont use fertiliser the horse was on grass keep and we didnt know farmer had fertilised it until the next day!!
