fly mask!!!best things ever! vinegar is ace for an hour or two so best for riding, other than that i think most fly repellants are all about the same we have tried loads of different ones and tbh none of them are that great!

I use coopers as well and in addition a cheaper one with avocado oil. We have not been too troubled by insects this far this summer.

Make my own now.....not much call for using it at the mo!

We are struggling with the dreaded midgy ear annoyers!! Couldnt be without his fly mask, even though he rolls in the mud and I wonder how he sees through it

as the mud sticks to it. Anyone else having this problem.
Have been using Shoo Fly, Deoset and Coopers but nothing deters the beasties. Coopers does seem to be stopping him itching though.

I make my own from a recipe on here, it works really well and I supply the other liverys with it too!! The ingredients are

Cold Strong Tea
Lavender Oil
TeaTree Oil
Citronella Oil
Cedar Wood Oil
Eucalyptus Oil
Capful of Dettol

It works really well and works out about £4 a bottle, very cheap compared to shop bought ones

Some people may be shocked, but we use Flypor. It is not licenced for horses - only cows, so I take full responsibility if the horse has any kind of reaction to it. I always do a spot check first on any horse that has not used it before but I have not seen an adverse reaction yet. To get it, I am always asked by the sales assistant if it is to use on cows and I always reply 'yes' (porky pie). I take a large syringe to measure about 40ml for my 15.2 and squirt it in a line fron his ears, down his neck and spine, down to his tail, and squirting whats left randomly on his body. It seems to work similar to Spot on for cats, which you put on the back on their neck. I do is approx once a week depending on the weather and whilst nothing keeps the flies totally away, it certainly makes them more comfortable. Hope that was of use, and interest.
