As title really do you ride in muckers/wellies/riding boots?

No reason to ask just seen many a different person ride in many a different footwear

:D

I probably shouldnt and im sure there are many reasons I shouldnt but I ride in my muckersXwellies (base like muckers just waterproof to the ankles but go up to the knee like welly height with material). Purely because its so so cold and I cant face taking them off to put my freezing cold riding boots on :p. In summer I ride in joddy boots and chaps :)

Hunter wellies for years, but my lovely MIL got me some Toggi Canyon boots for crimbo - they are so comfy and warm!!! Wear both with jeans. Apart from if I'm actually doing something then it's jods and my cavello boots. :)

My mountain horse high riders, i work with horses and work in them aswell, b far the best boots ive ever had. ANd they look smart too. There standing up to all the yard work too, my yard is all tarmac and dont look worn at all, although ive im very good and polish after mucking out before riding and at the end of the day so they look still brand new, not bad as ive had them 6 months and worn them nearly everyday!!:)

Ariat jod boots and chaps for schooling in summer. grasmeres for hacking and schooling in winter. long leather boots for posh.
X

MH protective rider boots with half chaps, or Toggi Calgary long boots. I HAVE got the long WoofWear muck boots but don't ride in them as they are too slippy. I NEVER ride in wellies, not enough grip and you cannot feel the horse!

I have some MH high riders but the zip went on one!!

depends - the old faithful hacking and schooling: hunters or muckers, the babies backing: jodphur boots, bringing on the youngsters: riding boots.

Just riding old man across the beach - flipflops or bareback and barefoot (me!)

Ariat or Hunter jod boots with Tredstep or Ariat chaps. I love the Ariats, but am really trying to keep them for best! Could never ever ride in wellies, muckers etc!

99% of the time I ride in long boots.

In winter I wear Mark Todd synthetic waterproof boots (no idea what they are called) which are superb.

In summer I wear Mountain Horse High Riders. I also have a pair of Sportive's for 'posh do's' and a pair of brown Mark Todd leather boots which I bought as a cheap replacement for a pair of brown High Riders that had just got too tired.

The 1% I don't wear long boots, I am in walking boots (and sometimes chaps).

used to always be boots n chaps otherwise i felt odd ha, now i go happy hacking with a friend in muck boots (only really do walk)
college its my ariat booties :)

Long boots for riding, but muckers for all other times on the yard: it's not much fun putting feet into cold riding boots, but there's no way I'd even attempt to ride in muckers - my foot moves around in them too much - I don't know how I'd go about maintaining the ball of my feet in the stirrups.

In all my life, I've never ridden in joddie boots and chaps - is this a must for summer? I've always just suffered my long boots as I'm rarely riding for more than 1hr at a time.

Woofwear long thermal boots. I've ridden in my long 'posh' boots before, and just finds it ruins them so have been really strict with myself.

Short boots and chaps at home / yard / lessons and some times pony club, depending on just how presentable they are. I've an extensive amount of boots and chaps so I just grab what ever is handiest. I've leather gaiters that I keep for competitions and sometimes ponyclub.

Ariat Grasmeres for the winter. Ariat Tellurides with some breathable synthetic chaps for lots of lovely long hacks in the summer :) Also have the Toggi Calgary boots which I wear sometimes when it starts to get warmer/more presentable during lessons and clinics etc. Mountain horse protective for when I am around the youngsters.

Can't ride in wellies at all!

Now I just need some nice long leather posh boots and I'll be done :)

I was bought some ariat toecap short boots for christmas, which I love but ariat only do these in black and not brown, and I really want brown :(

Can't decide whether to keep the black and buy new black chaps (local shop have ariat sale on next week) or swap for some brown un-toecapped boots and buy some smart leather chaps to go with. (as already have 2 pairs of suede brown chaps)

So which is best, black or brown - would really love some toecaps again, and the ariat ones don't even look like they have toecaps.

So atm riding in falling apart aussie jodphur boots that are not warm, and my scraggy chaps - I look great! ;)

Keep them and go by yourself some nice new ariat chaps :) The steel toe capped Ariats are great, you never know when they may come in useful!!! I have the MH steel toe capped, but think they only come in black too (technically a very very dark brown).

I had same dilemma last year in sale - there were Ariat steel toe capped black boots or Ariat brown boots with zip up the front. Decisions, decisions! I went with the brown ones and bought myself some really nice Ariat brown gaiters to match. I'm trying to keep them for best but do love riding in them!

Hmm, maybe I'll buy some black leather chaps so I can wear for competing (boots have zip up the front, and honestly you'd never know there was a toecap) and I can just wear my dark brown chaps for hacking, as who cares really?! :)

Thanks, made my decision - I think! :D

Timberlands and chaps, Toggi Joddyboots and chaps, but mainly far too lazy to change for hacking so my Toggi Heritages :D Converse are soooo comfy but bloomin scary when they slip through the stirrup, very glad I use safety irons.
