Mine eat allsorts.

Cabbage leaves, swedes, oranges, pears, apples, carrots, bananas....

I am queen of the fruit & veg reduced section in the supermarket.

Zoomy wll mug you for a banana! She loooooves them!

Monty has been ruined by my mother so only eats waitrose organic apples of the correct sweetness/crunchiness combination. They usually have to be cut up since he only has a couple of teeth bless him!

I understand that you shouldn't feed anything cruciferous - cauliflower, broccoli etc. Well not a lot anyway. Also not too many plums or stone fruits

Mine eats anything except bananas (which he spits out, but some love them) and figs. He loves oranges, sharon fruit, apples, pears, quinces, grapes, strawberries etc. Also, carrots, swedes, parsnips etc.

Root vegetables and fruit contain sugar, so moderation in all things I find best.

never tried pears oranges is that skin on or off? or celery cabbage is it the hard white typr or the green leafy one
have lookd at parsnips but never thought about them as dont eat them myself

Oranges whole if they are small - don't peel them! If they are big chop them in quarters. Just stand well back because there is juice everywhere. FB takes orange with his front teeth and bites it to break the skin, then sticks his head up in the air, moves it onto his back teeth and squishes all the juice down his throat then chews up the rest- it's really funny to watch.

Mine eats all sorts.

He likes the usual - apples, carrots, swede - and also likes cabbage, broccoli, lettuce (!), potato peelings and will eat banana as well. He hates pears and spits them at you if you feed them to him. I think YO gives him cauliflower as well.

When he's on part livery in winter, they usually all get a bog standard feed, chaff and beet dinner but I won't let YO give him beet (makes him fat) so she gives him vegetable peelings and left over veg for succulents

My mare will fall over herself for nectarines but the others think they are being poisoned if they find foreign bodies in their feed.

My OH teaches food at a secondary school. One of the dishes this term has been fruit salad and it is amazing the number of kids who just leave stuff a school. As a consequence ours have had all sorts including pineapple, orange, guava fruit, raspberries, as well as the more usual strawberries, apple, pear, banana.

My boy likes the crunchy stuff and my OH's mare like the banana and softer fruits, so it works out well. They will both trample you underfoot for fruit peelings!

The don't like turnip, or celery and my boy would prefer to eat wormer than banana. However, he loves the orange juice that many kids use with their salads.

My boy gets all the peelings from sunday dinner except potato. Carrots, swede, parsnip, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, turnip etc. Parsnip seems to be his favourite. He also loves bananas, apples & pears. I always thought that oranges or tangerines were ok in moderation but you have to be careful as they are so acidic? His sharer also gives him lettuce which he seems to like.

potatoes cabbage califlour is not good for them. Mine eats apples carrots swedes turnips and water melon and honey dew melons!

My horse loves melon and bananas anything sugary lol but watch out when they bite into the melons otherwise you end up getting covered in it

Oh yes, watermelon too! I used to be given about two a week during the season and FB loved them (in moderation). You have to bear in mind where I used to live we had twenty-two orange trees, plum trees, fig trees, quince trees, pear tree, pomegranates and persimmons (Sharon fruit). These last were FB's absolute food of the gods and he would chuckle at you if you went anywhere near the tree, trying to persuade you to pick him one! He would spend long summer days just staring at the tree, willing it to come closer

Wow, I would never have thought you could feed half of that.

One of the girls has given my boy cucumber!!! with no ill side effects.

I guess you have to introduce these other things such as oranges slowly?, if not, wey hey happy days are here, for my pocket at least

We had a pony that loved orange peels. The spooky pony likes citrus juice (used to introduce him to syringes), and will suck on orange slices and spit out the remains. He likes pears, but is unsure about bananas. I haven't tried him on berries, yet, though there are some raspberries along a hacking path we use, so we may try those tomorrow! He'll also eat prawn crackers...though that's not really a fruit, or a veg...

this is great thread getting some great ideas
melons whole or cut up???????
got to try the orange though just to see what they do when they bite into them!!!!
