Just as the title really, i was eating a banana at horses yesterday cobby had finished his dinner and decided he wanted my banana so i gave him some and he loved it!! what other things can you/do you feed?

I do spoil my 2, they get a sack of carrots every week between them (its a lot) then they have apples and even the ladies I work with save me apples and carrots fro them. Bee loves crisps (licks the bag as well) and also eats skittles! I sometimes get them a turnip.

Carrots, apples, pears (Darcey only, Tommy spat it at me!) parsnip, turnip, and the occasional mars bar and slurp of iron bru! Can you tell Im from Glasgow!? Used to ride a gorgeous fell mare at shows for her breeder. She got a tin of ginger beer after a good class! Straight from the can!

Hi :) i feed mine apples carrots pears swede would feed parsnips but they refuse to eat them lol. my friend feeds hers beetroot every now and again, just got to remember can cause red wee!,also cabbage leaves heard of banana apparently some competitors give their horses one at competitions like athletes do!(mine do like the odd crisp too favourite flavour is salt and vinegar (: ) hope this helps x

All sorts really. Seren tried so much different fruit and veg in her years bless her and loved it. Her favourites were parsnips and bananas :)
I have discovered Nell enjoys parsnip.
I was always told that you should not feed potato's, tomato's or rhubarb above all else.

I tend to stick to more veg, such as parsnips, carrots, swede, cabbage/spring greens, broccoli & cauliflower.
With fruit I tend to just give apple's as fruit is quite sugary after all, I will give a banana as a rare treat

My last horse was mad for satsumas and oranges. I asked the vet if it was ok for him to eat them and he said doesn't matter as horses don't like citrus. He said mine was the first horse he'd known to eat them and advised me he could see nothing wrong if he liked them so much. He lived to 21 years so obviously it did him no harm. He would always try and eat anything I happened to have for my lunch. Bit like a dog, he would stand there and almost drool whenever I had food. He loved Vegemite sandwiches (yes forgive me, I'm from Australia) but he would always spit out the crust.
We had a peach orchard near our livery and all the horses would charge off to get them straight off the tree.
One treat all my horses liked was molasses which they would lick straight off the wooden spoon. Also warm molasses in their feed in winter was always welcome and it made their coats gleam.
Another tip is a raw egg once a month in their feed. Again good for their coats.

I haven't found anything yet he doesn't like. Except maybe blueberries - he ate them but pulled a face.

Banana, apple, pear, berries, melon, grapes, corn-on-the-cob, carrot, swede, parsnip, sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, greens, cabbage, peas, lettuce...

He also likes crisps, chocolate, cheese sandwiches... I could go on... :o

Lol! cobs will try anything wont they :D

My friend's pony was due to be PTS so I gave him a chocolate coin as I figured it couldn't do him any more harm, he absolutley loved it bless him.

I think the strangest thing I've given my mare is half a bacon sandwich. She does like apples the best though and she doesn't like bananas or swedes :)

We had some andalucians and lisutanos imported in from spain, and in spain they use to have a diet of 65% straw and 35% brocolli stalks, and theywere in excellent condition.

I feed mine just about anything; apples, carrotts, swede, broccoli, parsnip, and sprouts.

known a lot to have bananas, butneither of mine liked them :)

Mushy bananas are the best treat for my horses - the supermarkets usually sell them off cheap and I nab them. I also heard that in the Middle East they feed them figs and dates.

My connemara will eat anything - caught him raiding some leftover food in the dogs dish so reckon the little divil is carnivorous!

One of mine is like a dog it would probably be quicker to say what he won't eat. The best bit about going to shows as far as he was concerned was the orange ice lollies. The only thing I've found he doesn't like is sugar lumps although he doesn't mind it on doughnuts! His favourite thing is bread. The others are a bit more normal my new boy thinks i'm mad if I offer him something strange :)

It must be the tiny bit of gypsy cob blood in Billy that makes him prefer my thumb over hay :o

Atm billy gets about a bucket of a mix of turnips, carrots and the occasional parsnip that makes his way in :) I say about a bucket, as a bucket is emptied in the yard and some of it is stolen by the health conscious labs and jack russell :p

Talking of dogs, my late Golden Retriever would jump up and steal carrots straight from my horses mouth. The two of them would play a game where I'd put apples in a wide deep bucket and I swear they would take turns bobbing for them and putting their heads completely under water. Great to watch and kept them both amused for ages.
I really them them both :(

Nobody kill me (I have no idea if these are damaging to pretty pudding)
But he is a Highland- he has them rarely and no harm is done.

Oranges
Grapes- stalks and all :rolleyes::p
Bread
Potatoes/ Sweet Potato
Empire biscuit (ONCE!) -He stole it :(
Bannans
Turnip/Swede
Apples
Pears
Small chunk of pineapple (He didn't enjoy it)
Parsnip
Cabbage
Lettuce
Cali flower
Broccoli
Peanuts (again stolen....)
Melon
Corn on the cob
Radish
Tomatoes

 Gosh... My boy has fair tasted the world, I do believe he took someones sandwich once too.. :p:p

As far as I know it can make them anemic.
Garlic on the other hand (in small quantities) is ok. My boy had a few problems as he was a roarer and as a result of being banded, kept getting upper tract infections from getting getting food stuck in his nasal passages whenever he ate. I used to give him pure garlic oil (from capsules, just pricked the capsule and mixed with hot water and in his feed). Helped him no end. Cleared out all the muck and initially he had a horrible runny nose for the first week or so but but it sure did sorted out the infection.
He smelt pretty bad but hey, it certainly worked and was always a good cure whenever he got the sniffles in winter.

Ponio she likes polos, carrots, apples, soft pears & snickers.
Cobblet he likes Pears, carrots, some apples but not granny smiths. He also likes pickled onion flavour Monster crunch crisps (in small doses) and extra strong mints. Did eat some snickers but didnt half pull a face!!! lol

He hates cabbage leaves and will NOT be given potatoes or bread.
