My 3 yr old saying "Mum, can we get up now?"

Mine is 5,more then enough of an alarm clock.
Got him a bedtime trainer and normaly wake to being jumped on by excited child screaming "THOMAS IS AWAKE IT'S WAK UP TIME!!!!"
OP,if you are still tired in the morning, get to bed an hour earlier.
If you just dont want to get out of snuggly bed,put the alarm clock at the other end of the room and leave the heating off-once you are cold from turning it off you are up
The fact that......if I dont get up at 6am to go do the horses, I wont be back in time for shower and get kids ready and dropped off at school and I wont get to work on time....plus then I would have to do mucking out x3 after work.
The whole day would collapse like a pack of cards...me and OH live in fear of alarm clock failure lol!
Because I would be late for work if I didn't! My boy is done for me in the morning (phew!) but I have to get up at 6am to get to work on time as I commute into London. As soon as my alarm goes off I turn my light on otherwise I would go back to sleep!
Good diet, early nights and warm house so your not cold when you get up, bob the radio on so it helps to wake you up, have a set routine, on certain days just turn out and muck out, on other days just ride and muck out after work, then give yourself and your horsde a day off, lunge instead of riding and vary your routine so it doesnt seem like a chore.

Needing to be in work on time, and the fact that my horse is waiting for me is enough to get me out of bed.

Ditto ^^^ I also find going to bed fully dressed for the next morning helps. I dont have to get out of bed to a cold room or change into cold clothes, i'm all ready to go the moment i get out of bed.
I am really struggling at the mo too cause i have just had a very nasty virus for 5 weeks and i am knackered all day every day
so i have asked a friend to do my mare in a morning for me for abit, give me an extra 30 minutes in bed, even then, getting up in the dark to go to work for 9 hours isnt my motivation, its not being late for work and its knowing my girl is going to winny and neigh when she sees me at half 5 tonight when i step onto the yard
i just keep thinking about the RC season, roll on may!!
Get a teasmaid (not sure if that is correct spelling!) and a timer plug so that the coffee is ready for 6 am, put alarm clock in another room with slippers and dressing gown, and before you know it you are up with coffee in hand! I did this for 31/2 years! Now i am lucky enough to have enough time to ride and muck out before work but still get up at 6.45am to get 5 mucked out and 2 ridden before work.
I'm struggling too atm - hate these dark mornings - but just keep telling myself that it will all start getting better after the shortest day on 21st Dec!
I've been advised to get one of those SAD artificial light alarm clocks but the flying one sounds better
like KittyH said - routine. I wake at 6.30am regardless of whether I need to get up or not, which is actually quite annoying as at the weekend I dont need to get up that early usually.
Also I have young children and I know I have to get the horses done before the day really starts otherwise I would stress about growing poo mountains and the fact that the horses are expecting their feed / hay etc. Plus I have been caught out when I didnt do them in the morning and then I was out of the house on an emergency until 10pm and it just added to the stress knowing the horses hadnt even been checked, had missed a feed, that I still had to see to them after a horrendous day etc etc. Now I know if I do them in the morning then I dont need to worry about them for the rest of the day.....
The earlier I get up, the longer I have to ride my favourite boy. He's a superstar in every sence of the word. I get very depressed during the day at work if I've not ridden. At the moment, it's mainly schooling as the light is restricting, but in the summer I was getting up as early as 5 am and riding out for up to 2 hours before work. Maybe I am a bit mad?
I'm less able to do things after work as my other half doesn't like me spending all evening at the yard, which I could quite happily do otherwise!
The worrying thought ned will tye up if not ridden, or colic if eaten all her hay and sometimes straw bed!! Up at 6am, at the horse for half past, muck out, fill hay nets and water buckets, sometimes get tea ready, then when day light enough ride 1 and lead. Home for 9am on the dot, quick bath, wash hair do make up and 25 miles into work for 10am!! Then a joyfull 7 an half hrs work. Back to horse for 6.15, put beds down, feed. Then eventually home to feed myself..
.Re start process next morning. But gotta say once your in the routine its a sod to have lie in!!!

My OH got a SAD clock about a month ago and I was very sceptical about it. Now it works better on me than it does on him! It's actually a nice way to wake up which helps prevent me from being a horrible grump in the mornings!
