Well, my ex best friend is being taken to court by one of her liveries. Basically, the livery is paid in cash to her, and she in turn is supposed to pass it on to her father who does the books, but instead she has been pocketing it (has been for years)

I fell out with her over it, and the fact she stole from me to fund her then drug habit (which may have returned) When I say stole, she tried to sell my Stubben saddle, sold my Burberry and Prada handbags, tried to pass of my £130 riding hat as hers (even when I pointed put it had my name in it) and is frequently at shows in my jacket and leather boots.

ANYWAY....This person (who I dont know) has been given my number and called me last night to ask me to testify as a witness against my ex friend.

Would you? I am unsure, things are very settled at the moment and I dont want to rock the apple cart....

Whaddoyarecon?

without a shadow of a doubt absolutely. i could have testified against someone / something earlier this year and i was about to undergo yet another operation at the time and had to take the decision to stand back for my own health, i wish i hadnt now. go for it. silly cow and pm people to name and shame her too, sorry that was uncalled for but still, weve all been bitten by these so called "friends" before.

couldnt you be forced to appear as a witness for her defnece by her solicitor if you say no?

I'm not sure as it is a civil matter?

I would say yes as if she is doing this to fund a drugs habit then she needs help and allowing her to continue to thieve will get her nowhere

What is she taking her to court for??

Basically, she was fed up and left, and the girls father said they owed 4 months livery. She was never given invoices or reciepts, however has bank statements showing the withdrawal of cash from her account, and witnesses who saw her handing over the money.

So the yard is taking her to court for unpaid livery, even though she has paid it?

Ah, so the yard is taking HER to court for supposedly unpaid debts.

I can't believe how often his happens with liveries

I've seen it time and time again - why don't people get receipts?!

Anyway.... has this ex friend of yours also stolen from this person, or is it just pocketing the livery money??

If she has witnesses of her paying the cash I don't know how necessary or relevant your statement would be. Unless she just wants to use your name as a witness to a CRIMINAL offence, to stop them taking her to court for this civil matter.

I think you may be being used here!!

You may not have any option but to appear as a witness; I would say you probably should, doubtful you'll be asked many questions and it will be over and done with in no time.
