I am so proud of Harley tonight!!

We went for a walk earlier to an area I hadn't been to for a while. When I got there I realised I'd forgotten his anti bark collar (he barks at people without dogs and bikes, although we have been working on this) and had no treats!! DOH! I did have his tennis ball though which is I use for his focus training so I set off keeping my fingers crossed.

He was just so great. Everytime I gave him a command he immediately responded and the BEST thing was we met a young whippet that went nuts when we appeared and flew at us (luckily H is ok with rude dogs). H had a little run with her and I kept walking, called him and he IMMEDIATELY came!! I have never been able to call him away from playing with another dog like that. I usually walk away and once I've gone a certain distance he comes. But he just was far more interested in me than the MEGA fun whippet! The whippet actually came with us (owner was really struggling to call her back, so I had to stop and get H to sit next to me so she could grab it) and even then H was just so focused on me.

So proud of him.

(Sorry if this was boring and garbled! ;) )

Anyone elses dog made them smile today?

Hasn't destroyed anything. Yet.

Chose to sneeze blood all over my face while I was inspecting his teeth, rather than try and bite my nose off :p

Big dog managed not to eat the Very Large Dead Hare lying by the side of the road we found this morning, despite sore temptation :p

I have just started leaving my 7 month old lurcher alone for an hour or two and I don't crate him.I came home and he hadn't trashed anything in fact he had been asleep the whole time I think, as my quilt was all scrunched up into a little nest and quite warm.
Unfortunately he just blew it. Recall when there are other dogs around is none existant.Up in the woods he legged it to say hello to another dog. Normally if I see them I get his attention and get him back on the lead but not a chance tonight.Fortunately the other walkers waited for me to catch up and get him. They are a nice lot round here thankfully.

Scabby dog did not eat any of the adolescent pheasants that suddenly exploded out of the undergrowth at us and ineffectually flapped around in the hedge. Not for lack of trying, mind you, I had to put her in a headlock. :p

Her general amazingness (well, for a huskasnoot, a collie she is definitely not!) at agility has had me grinning like a loon these past few weeks, I feel like some sort of dog training god. :o

Um.

He at least gave me back SOME of the dead bird he found and was scarfing down his neck as fast as he could, and he got off the muckheap before I had to go up there after him:rolleyes:

However he did then go back to find the bird wing from where I'd chucked it on our return circuit about 15 minutes later, how can he be so damn smart about some things, and so dim about others?

Hve got a crate for holidays etc and today shut the door by this evening I have left the house for one hour they were asleep when I got back. Teal prefers it he's in it now. Got un it straight after setting up on Sunday.

Will jumped in for a photo. I know Teal has is issues but I'm soooo lucky with my dogs

OoooooooooooooooOOOOoooOOO!

Another credit for Big Dog, he hasn't done any work whatsoever since the old 'Nil Points' episode in February, I've been doing a little bit of tracking prep with the pup and had two articles (carpet and wood) in my pocket, so I put them on the ground, called him back from about 100m away and he went down on them immediately...not bad for one of those dumb showlines that hasn't had a sniff of a track for four months :D

Just got back from first holiday away without dog or any one else! sad old singleton:( in many years and my neighbours have loved looking after Fergus a Lakeland Fell Terrier and he hasnt disgraced himself in any way AMAZING and they want him to stay again. Secretly thinking the B****** wants to move in with them as he has been spoiled rotten:D

Well, its about an hour till bedtime so I live in hope! :)

We had a super rude day (we could start a naughty whippet/lurcher club), advanced deafness, the four-paw-Ninja greeting of visitors, cat harrasing, plant trampling.

I did like how he went from being comatose on the sofa to instant alert- because I brushed some cake crumbs off my jumper and one must have landed near his nose

Pups are one today so I got home super early to take them for a second walk.

Brig and Bear went to the woods and we practised recall: Bear is starting to come back voluntarily after much naughty ignoring. I stopped to chat to a lady with a rottie/St Bernard cross (looked like a massive Rhodesian ridgeback) and gave her loads of numbers for raw food suppliers cos she was having problems finding variety. When looked up, no sign of Bear :( but after one shout, up he came! I'm so chuffed with him!

Brig is always best dog and him heeling when I look at him, no voice needed, makes me happy every time.:)

Zak, well, I'm not going to bed yet so there's time. :D

Well done Harley - very grown up behaviour! :)

Erm mine graciously budged over by a whole inch to allow me to perch on the edge of my (MY) bed this morning to slurp my coffee. Bloody bedhogs!

That was good for them! :p

I'm not having a terrible good day today so I have to say that 'just being with me' is the best thing both of ours have done today.
A wet nose in your lap beats everything!

I just spat my lunch all over the keyboard!
