I want to hear all your stories of when someone has gone out of their way to help you, where your horse is concerned - for no good reason other than they want to help you. It can be anything, big and small, I just want some reassurance that the horse world does have its good sides as this forum sometimes gets bogged down with the negatives of horse people. So lets hear it :)

I was stuck at home in a cast and the person who was looking after my horse suddenly text me saying she couldn't do it after tomorrow (after promising it was no trouble)
I text an SOS ti another friend who called me straight back the conversation went
'can't talk to long there is a huge hedge coming up, will pick him up later'

she was out hunting at the time:D despite being a pro who normally charges quite a bit, she kept him for the same as it was costing me at old yard. He was there nearly 3 months

Another friend then took on same horse when I had to retire him as she knew I could not afford to keep 2 horses and wanted to ride/compete

First friend will do anything for me, she has competed my new one for me a few times and travelled a way to do so, wouldn't take a penny although again she normally charges.

I will forever be indebted to both of these

My RI became one of my best friends in the months after my horse launched me into the air, causing me to have an extremely painful fall, and then promptly injured himself a week later (necessitating 3 months box rest).
By the time he was ready to start riding again, he was mental from all the time off, and I was a gibbering wreck from nerves - not having had the opportunity to get back on him much after my fall, before he went lame.
My RI basically 'adopted' me on the yard and helped me every step of the very scary road back to confidence. She was there whenever I wobbled, ready to spur me on, cheer me up or just give me a boot up the backside. She seemed to anticipate when I would need her (which was a lot!) and just seemed to appear at exactly the right moment. She also seemed to know when to back off and just let me get on with it on my own.
I wasn't even having paying lessons with her at the time, as my horse was just in the rehab stage of his recovery!
Without her, I can honestly say I probably would have given up riding and sold my horse (who is without a doubt the best thing that's ever happened to me).

Also, my horse's old owner is amazing. She looks after him when I go on holiday, and is always happy to pop up to the yard if I'm having a problem, or just want an objective eye.

Our yard is populated with people who would do anything for each other. Sure, we have some idiots and snotty brats, and there is the inevitable whispering and sniggering in the corner, but when our lot have to they really pull out the stops for each other.

My yard is great and my Yard Owner is a star:

1st week at new job, Horse cuts his leg on fetlock with possible tendon damage. YO takes care of everything and would have taken him to the horsepital if he had needed to go.

My best friend is the most encouraging and supportive friend EVER:

She was the only person I trusted to help me horse shopping as I know she was only interested in me getting a horse for me and not what she thought I should get. Ever since then she has shared her trainer with me (she pays for his travel so I don't have to) and my riding and confidence have soared as a result!

Does that make you feel any better?! I know there are lots of good people doing good things for others so chin up! :D
