I’m contemplating taking little Ernie cob to some local shows soon and not sure what headgear he should be in? He’s a yearling colt but definitely not ready to be bitted yet. He’s super easy to handle and I have no doubt a halter would be fine control wise but not sure if this is proper with him being a colt?

I think he’d look nice in a white rope halter but again not a clue what is proper, I’m used to filly slips and pretty ribbon browbands ?

Any tips much appreciated!

Every show I’m aware of require colts to be bitted, usually at all times while on the show ground I’m afraid. You would have to check the rules of the specific shows you want to enter but I’ve never known any show to allow colts not to have a bit in once they are a yearling.
