I seem to attract people with no brain cells lately. Been looking for a sharer for ages to help bring on back young horses and ride a new pony that we should be getting, I would have bloomin thrown money at someone to get a chance to work with different horses ect but these days nope! were did they all go I used to graft my arse of 6 days a week after school when i was 12/13 years old sorting out 8 horses every night and paying part loan contribution. Where have all the youngsters gone who actually are wanting to get stuck in? I mean asking to poo pick now and again cant be that difficult lol! it just seems all these enthusiastic kids are no longer around anymore ashame really ! little rant over with now thanks for llistening lol:D:D

I think a large amount of sharers have probably realised they are being ripped off!

Some people charge far far too much for a share which is in reality a small amount of riding and a large proportion of jobs. I always thought the point of shares were to help the owners out with the workload / riding and give a small contribution.

Sorry OP totally not aimed at you, just a bit of a rant really!

Ha no I understand I wouldn't ask for money just want the help but still nobody its strange I thought it did of good as a child kept me fit and learnt so much

If you are expecting someone to pay for the privilege of bringing on youngsters that might explain it. If however I'm wrong & you aren't wanting contributions then it could be either your ad content or where its placed.

Sorry on a new phone can't type properly. No I wouldn't want any money were would be the best place to advertise ?

Try local tack & feed shops, or notice boards at large yards. And if there's any shops close to yards frequented by horsey types. If you don't mind novices then local rs. Or if you have colleges/unis nearby. And worth calling local pc, they might know a teen who's currently horse less. Maybe preloved & local Facebook groups if you don't mind hordes of idiots getting in touch too.

Thanks that's really good advice will do that ! How much ! Good lord some people expect far too much money I just want my babies to get used to different people

Im an enthusiastic teenager who would do anything to ride! currently share 2 days a week for £120 a month, cheapest I found for around here and I'd rather pay that + ride than not pay it and not ride! If I was near you I would be down there tomorrow ;) ahaha there are still sharers around you've just got to advertise in the right places!

I know I had I girl but she was a nightmare I spent a lot of time tryin to teach her and she couldn't tie a haynet up for a year even though I showed her every time lol ! Yet all her non horsey friends who came sometimes could ! Very puzzled by it lol. Al have to try advertise in other places

Christ! My sharer was a very enthusiastic teenager, who rode very well, but with room for improvement, but helped me out with the stable duties for my other horses as well as her 'share' on her days (i was always there too) and paid me £10 per week, she rode 3/4 days a week. She now has pony on full loan, but I think I was very lucky to have had such a good 'sharer', although expected much less than £180/month- that's crazy!

I've just been snapped up :D by the most loveliest lady with the most lovely boy whos gonna be busy for the next year and needs the help more than money (although I am going to pay something as she's giving me a free rein to compete etc!)

We're here, but I had to wade through some ridiculous offers first!

Do you want the loan of a 5 year old who " asks" her current yard for jobs to do, she is happy to muck out, top up water buckets, clean tack , lead in lessons, hose yard down ( even if it takes 2 hours! ), clean brushes etc!:D

Hi i'm 14 and i have struggled for the best part of a year to find any sharers within a reasonable distance, i think the biggest problem for me was transport as my parents work full time and i have to be able to get there by my own steam. I have recently found the most amazing share, there is a lovely lady in my town who lives a few streets away who is currently pregnant, so i ride/lunge/excercise her horses for her a few times a week. She gives me lifts to and from the stables, asks for no financial contributions or stable work! I actually really want to do stable chores because i want to learn, so my sharer lets me sort everything out on a saturday (under her watchful eye of course). It really is the perfect arrangement for me and i found her advert just as i was giving up searchinh because there was nothing in my area. I'm sure you will find your perfect sharer when you stop looking! Just make sure you put adverts everywhere online! Use equine adverts, preloved, horse gossip and anywhere else you can think of! Trust me someone is just looking for your advert!

This I think is precisely the problem, I feel for you paying that! The most I have paid for a share was £100 every second month for 3 weekdays and also riding any other day of the week I wanted to as long as I text the owner and asked. I was allowed to lunge, jump, hack and school and ride bareback. It was £70 one month and £100 every second (£30 for shoes added on). It's hard though, so many people are in it for the money these days!

We do exist :D, you just have to find us! I'm surprised someone hasn't snapped up the opportunity you are giving, I would give anything to help with youngsters! It's great experience :). A lot of owners these days just want the money and don't care about the horse's as much, it's disappointing really. I'm finding it so hard to find something that is reasonably close and cheap to share!

On another note, Gumtree is becoming increasingly popular and I know a lot of people (including myself) who regularly check there for new horse shares. Also Equine Ads I've found is reasonably good :). Can't help you much beyond that I'm afraid! Best of luck :P.

I totally agree
I am offering a lovely well schooled horse .. all you have to do is treat him like your own .. do his stable before you ride and feed him before you go home ...he is kept on our own yard so not asking for contributions towards keep ... they turn up weekends when its sunny ... have lovely facilities and a lorry to go to shows ... am pulling my hair out

This is crazy! I would have jumped at a chance like that! I inquired about a horse for share, 2/3 days a week.... £250 a month!! Madness!
Just isn't like it used to be! (I feel so old saying that :p )

This sounds like a dream! I don't understand where everyone has gone as well! You are literally offering someone the opportunity to have there own horse basically, and for nothing too! I'm really surprised you're having trouble finding someone.

Well that was the plan to give someone a chance to have a horse to call there own .. I have others I am schooling and competing on so dont have the time ... one girl kept saying she would prefer to ride one of my competition horses instead ..,when I refused .. as mare was top mare and very much a blood horse and would eat a novice for breakfast she didnt bother coming back.. the horse I am offering is a pedigree luso !!

Try your local horses for share group on FB (type in horses for share in ....... In the search box atthe top of the page). Alternatively, Preloved appears to be popular currently, just found my sharer there, she just finished an equine science degree and loves cobs!

I do think some people take the mick with money and others want the earth for nothing. I think £10 a day with the owner absent is fair. I hate to loom over people and if I were sharing, I'd want to have independence.

It's tricky: I said no novices (one girl who came could barely stay on in trot) and no youngsters who need supervision because I don't want kids from my school turning up and I don't want to have to be there.
