Went for a hack today and was wearing pink tabbard and horse had pink leg wraps on and was shocked at the number of drivers who just drove past at the same (fast) speed they were going originally.
There were a few lovely (mainly older) drivers who went past lovely and slowly and who slowed down nice and early but they seemed to be the majority :(
*also a question: does anyone know if the police dog unit cars have blue lights just one went past me really fast despite hand signals then carried on really fast, so wonder if he was on a call but had no blue lights etc? Also didn't look like a typical police car just had dog unit or similar written on the side & he he what looked like a police uniform on....

I find they rarely pass wide and slow on a certain stretch of road (where we REALLY need them to!) but, that said, apart from that, most drivers around here are pretty good :)

In my experience around here in Devon, it's usually rural drivers who have less respect.

Used to ride around some very quaint villages and was full on agricultural country with lots of contractors etc, lots of horsey ppl and farmers, they were a total nightmare, would could flying past with big trailers or horse trailers that were rattling... I have now moved back closer to town (still in the country) but most of the drivers around me are no into animals, just living in the country types and they seem to have so much respect, sometimes they are too kind and I need to wave them on:D

Sadly this seems to be happening more and more!

The police dog units do I believe have blue lights. Even if they were on a blue light call that is still no excuses not to pass safely. On several occasions in the past I have had both police cars and ambulances come past whilst on a call and they have always slowed down and come past as any driver should. I think it's more likely that its a security company dog unit. The company near where I work all drive like lunatics regardless of what is on the road.
