What happened to the Brightwells thread ?

....what?
And lose money?
Its fair better to lose credibility!

The man and the society and the auction house ought to be ashamed of themselves but cash comes before comfort and profit before ponies! :(

I think everyone who has a photo of any of the ponies in poor condition should forward a copy to the wcps and the rspca and whw. if a letter writing campaign is started [and this can include email] and inundate the wcps with letters and keep it going then they willrealise that the issue is not going to go away. Pressure needs to be kept up. Also the press should be contacted especially the tabloids and the television.

Many people have had first hand experience with this breeder and have sent their photographic evidence to various welfare groups, the wpcs, watchdog and most of the news channels. This is certainly something which will not be allowed to simply disappear despite the best efforts of the society. Considering this breeder has been presenting such ponies since decades ago- illness is not an excuse!

Just catching up to this...

Sometimes I wonder if it would be useful to have a blog that operated a little like Amnesty International campaigns, with a breakdown of facts and then names and addresses to write to. Mind you, it would be a lot of work to verify things... But it would also be good to have something that was a reliable, central source.

hmm, I read the following this morning , and if it's true then I've been very naive indeed:

The Welfare Officer of WPCS was at the sale

The Chair of the WPCS was bidding on Cricceth ponies for export to Germany

The Chair of the WPCS is the holder of the VOSA Operators license for A & J Exports
...

This makes yesterday's response from the WPCS an insult.

There are some quite dispicable photos already in the public domain which have been forwarded.

The stud in question also has a website.

If you go into the for sale section then click on the photos of the stallion and the one of the two grey mares it enlarges them - the condition of the horses is there for all to see - on the stallion one you need to be looking at the chestnut mare in the background with her bum to the camera.

Well it beggars believe, might just as well not reg pure/x-breds. The Criccieth Stud has had a bad reputation for many years. I've seen some of the stock up to 4 years ago and they were in pretty poor state then. I think it people loyal to the name of the stud that keep buying, just makes me wonder if they can sell their off spring on.

I am aware that the breeder who bred my young mare sells his youngstock through brightwells and alot of the horses at the dealer my YO got Holly from come through there aswell including my friends very well bred sports horse.

People who followed the Criccieth Stud discussions and subsequent Brightwell's, WPCS fallout might want to visit this discussion board for some updates

Also lots of information on the Facebook Page "Responsible Equine Breeding Society" which needs for all of you to visit and "like" to get up to critical mass

There is a petition on that facebook page that should be signed as it will be presented to the Welsh Assembly
