What happened to thread about ad and piebald?

I was literally just reading it a second ago then it said that "i did not have permission to view it" so i went back to the home page and its just been removed.

New owner of the horse came on and made some (rather incoherent) threats about suing for slander without answering any of the questions about the animal. I suspect Admin thought it easiest to delete the entire thing.

I cant believe they removed it!!! I will probably get told off for this, but why is it the sites seem to always be on the side of the one in the wrong? Cant say anything bad about dealers, in case we upset them, someone says they are going to sue, (although I cant quite see what or who she was going to sue) and the thread is removed!!! No wonder there are so many horses being passed from pillar to post when there is no where we can actually find out about dodgy dealers, and dodgy private sales!!! I am so pleased that we didnt get caught this time, but it was close!!!

Dear forum users

We received a complaint about the thread and removed it because it breached the forum terms and conditions. Some of the comments made could have been considered defamatory and it also contained personal attacks on both the person selling the horse and on Benson21.

HHO Admin

Damn, I was catching up as I left it at page 12, so sounds like I was about to get to the interesting part! What exactly happened? Did the new owner who was trying to sell him as a novice ride come online?

What about Benson...has she decided to not view the horse?
:(

The seller came online and insulted Benson21 quite nastily and it turned out that the OP was being truthful. There were dodgy looking ads on HM and HQ with different prices but the same tel number.

I'm surprised Admin didn't pick up on it earlier and it lasted as long as it did before being removed.

Benson21 - I don't think it was case of Admin being on the side of the person in the wrong more a case of it was becoming quite defamatory and not wanting to leave themselves open to possible legal proceedings.

The one great thing to have come from it all, though Benson21 you might not believe it at the moment is, that you will now have loads of HHO members looking out for the right horse for you and personal recommendations are so much better than going into a sale by either a private seller or dealer.

I was just looking for it too to see what happened.

Wow, sorry it was such a horrid experience Benson21, but at least you didn't waste time by going to see it. Like people were saying yesterday keep looking and the right horse is out there. I can't believe what happened with the seller then, hope they weren't too nasty. People can be nasty...

I went to see a horse that looked great on advert and the seller over the phone sounded so nice. When I got there the woman was so horrible it made me cry! She was smoking in a stable with a young scared horse and was downright rude and nasty! I nearly bought the horse too, she put so much pressure on me then it failed the vetting. The seller then tried to get me to buy it for less after failing, then said she was going to sue my vet! I would say word of mouth goes a long way when looking for a horse, I ended up getting my angel through a producer who my instructor knows very well. and as mentioned above you will have people looking out for the right horse for you.

Good luck Benson21, he/she is out there somewhere!

I was disappointed at how many people thought the OP had a hidden agenda - you know who you are. Weezy was the first (and about the only at that point) person to say it wasn't an unlikely scenario.

The OP and her friend should be apologised to.

On a naughty note, did anyone think to save the thread and could they post it to me?

To be honest, I firstly gave advise for the OP to contact trading standards to see if they could help. It was only when it was pointed out that things just didnt add up did people start asking questions, which is where OP wanted the post to end, and went very quiet. I think anyone would be suspicious. I still dont know quite what to believe, I didnt go and see the horse, dont even know if it was actually ever for sale, but have apologised to OP. To be honest, I take it you dont know the complete story on this, otherwise you wouldnt need it posting to you!

Hi Benson21,

I did read all of that thread and to be honest with you, you have nothing to worry or appologise about.

You have been through and are still living with a very traumatic experience. Buying horses, as we see so many times from posters on here, is an extremely risky business so anything that might throw doubt on the honesty of how a horse has been described should be of ommense concern.

Try to put this behind you, dwelling on it will not be good for you. I know how hard it can be when looking for a horse all the ones you think sound perfect are usually to far away, expensive or already sold so when you find one that seems to be perfect it is so disappointing when it goes 'pear shaped'.

However this happened for a reason, even though it is not obvious to you now at some point in the future you will know why it did and in this case I suspect it is because there is a horse out there just waiting for you.

My parting message is switch HHO off stop worrying about everyone on here and go enjoy the lovely weather we are having, assuming it is as nice in the south east as it is up here in North wales.

I was more cross that more care hadnt been taken when selling the horse in the first place, as people were obviously upset after the original sale as to where the horse would end up. A bit like shutting the door after the horse had bolted.

At one point i did find myself questioning it all because the adverts were so heavy on how safe the horse was, full history, owner giving up, etc. i thought that was an awful lot to make up if they had only had the horse a few days. Maybe im more naive than i thought!

You live and learn! Thanks to the OP and sorry if you felt you got unecessary stick.

OK, here goes: OP posted about an advert of a horse for sale, saying she recognised the horse as having been very recently sold by a friend of a friend and up for re-sale immediately under different (and partly false) claims.

A number of people responded to this. Some people suggested contacting Trading Standards about false advertising. Some people concentrated on the original owner who had sold to someone who turned up with the cash and bought the horse untried and unvetted. Some people questioned if it was the same horse, or there was a reason for trying to mess up the sale.

Then it emerged that Benson21 was due to see the horse, the general advice was that she should still go but be cautious.

Following from that, the friend of the friend of the OP joined the thread to confirm what the OP had said. Then the new owner joined the thread. It's difficult to characterise what she said but it didn't seem to answer any questions about the horse but concentrated instead on how she felt about the thread. These were fairly heated posts and shortly after the whole thing was pulled.

At one point I posted about another ad 2 or 3 horses below the original one for the same horse which looked like the same horse but I wasn't sure.
This ad was earlier and was for a third of the price and the horse was advertised as for a confident rider. Much comparing of markings some of which were hidden under the mane and the consensus was this was the same horse. This seemed to confirm the OP's version of events.

The ad was pulled from Horsemart and the new owner and OP both came on to discuss and as booboos said it got heated and the thread was pulled.

The ownwer of the horse seemed to get quite offended when asked about the horse, I had an appointment with her to see him on friday and sunday, I havent gone to either, and not heard a thing from her. I know if I was trying to sell a horse honestly, and someone didnt show up for a viewing, I would be contacting them to find out where they were!

Maybe I should spend more time outside the breeding section! Raging I missed that now. Sounds like Tom Clancy could come on here to get inspiration for a Rainbow Six novel!!!

Congratulations on doing the right thing Benson. The Good always win in the end
